  2. I mean the switch that cuts power to the petrol pump in a crash so petrol is not spraying everywhere. where I live there is really bad potholes and im expecting this to trigger the inertia switch and I have no idea where it is. This happened me in my first injection car back in the 90's and had to be towed in to work early one morning only to find this switch had triggered and only needed prest in for the car to start... I think all injection cars have this kind of switch now...
  3. I'm thinking of whipping up some homemade spaghetti with a side salad.
  4. My 2017 ct200h was rear ended yesterday by a Jeep. Most of the damage seems to be on the right side, it hit hard enough to push the tailgate in and separate the bumper on both sides. I know the battery is on the passenger side under the cargo. Should I be worried about non visible damage to the battery? Would I be able to tell if something was wrong with it? The car seems to be driving fine, although I can hear wind noise inside the cabin from the rear. Thoughts?
  5. This has been bugging me since I got my NX in January. It seems to have worked for Nobbie67 so i will give this a try as my problems are exactly the same. Thank you.

  8. The suspension set up makes it remarkably agile for a luxury limo and the 1UZ is so strong.
  9. The Shadow system doesn't use the Canbus system. Same guy fitted the Shadow as fitted and removed the Ghost. No further issues since regarding battery discharging.
  10. That's my RX450h+ one month old now and 665 miles on the clock. First refuel today with just under quarter of a tank indicated. Ignoring electricity charging consumption was over 82mpg but with the cost of charging (at off peak rate) converted to what that equates to in petrol the overall result is in excess of 62mpg. As expected its down on what I was achieving from my previous NX450h+ (72mpg) but better than I had thought so very pleased.

  12. Hi Tel, I have the Premium Plus Design. I'm sure there was a set up issue at the dealership. When I've investigated further with my official online app, the car was pre-regd at Newcastle (I knew I was buying a pre-reg, I thought it was at the Teesside dealership but that doesn't worry me) You're quite right about it should appear when ignition was turned on, but all that appeared was the compass. This is when the dealer tried to get me to use Apple Maps. The car handover seemed very rushed. It didn't help that I don't and won't use my phone for emails so he struggled to get my phone to connect with the car. I'll get it sorted when I pop over for another tank fill up my wife haggled for (she's much better at that than me!) Thanks for your input Tel.
  13. They’ll still possibly be touting for “ preventative maintenance “ work maybe long before it even becomes an MOT Advisory …… it’s probably in their Job Description / Targets 😰 Malc
  14. Someone pops down to Tesco for shopping 😄 Malc
  15. Thanks. I hope this is useful for others when they come to sell.
  16. Everyone should be aware that for the phev versions, it is necessary to have the petrol engine operational, and it is dangerous to rely on the electric motor to run the car on its own (according to some post somewhere): in other words, an empty tank won't work. Presumably there are certain functions which still rely on the petrol engine even if it is not running (no idea how that works!). I think we need a concerted campaign to complain to Lexus about this issue. Maybe it thinks a 30% petrol reserve is safer for the engine, as it keeps a reserve in the battery as well. Surely someone can explain this properly.
  17. Hi I purchased this solar panel and controller, for my SC430 in 2019 for £48.19 fro Amazon. It is mounted on my garage roof and has worked very well....I have run the wires down to the battery from the roof. 18. I’m presuming the occasional ULEZ fee I pay to Sadiq Khan for driving my nigh exhaust free Ls400s in London penal areas does actually go to “ air purification” in some way 🤔 Malc
  19. Thank you for your service! 🙂 Good to know for the future. On a related note, I picked up 2 rear shocks from the Lexus dealer locally today, I was expecting a horrendous price but not so, 215e for both.
  20. hello all, thanks for all the comments, i decided not to go ahead with the purchase in the end, while i think this was a one off and definitely a good car for someone im not sure it was right for me. now potentially looking at lc500s if my budget can stretch...
  21. The bong wasn’t just happening when going over the speed limit it was happening every time there was a change speed limit sign! I agree with you about the overly complicated dashboards which seem to be the rage these day. Maybe I’m just getting old. I found it difficult to actually see what the time was. Much prefer the simple elegance of an analogue clock.
  22. Thanks. But to be honest, I'm seriously thinking about selling it. MOT is coming and I will probably sell it after. No other car I have ever owned has given me more grief and expense. I wanted a RWD 4 doors saloon with a manual transmission and the reason I passed on buying a BMW was exactly that I was not looking for big bills. So I bought a Lexus because of the stellar reputation. But based on this first and only, and most likely last Lexus, I can't say I recommend them, let alone buying another. Maybe this generation IS is the blacksheep? I had heard horrible things about the IS220. But not of the IS250. As much as I love driving the car, I'm getting tired of the big bills. As it is, the garage told me that I might have problems getting my next MOT because they saw some rust. This after having to replaced a totally rusted out fuel tank 2 years ago. And I barely drive the car as we have 2 other cars in the family. Ironically, I love Alfa Romeos and the reason I don't own one is the rust and unreliable reputation.
