I have just spoken to a good source that Lexus Aberdeen will changing dealer in March. The current dealer is Town & County (who have started selling SEAT rather than Lexus!!!!) and the new dealer will be ................... Arnold Clark, who is currently looking for premises to show of their wares.

Well, if they are as good as Lexus Glasgow (also Arnie) then you should be OK. I know Arnold Clark does not get a great name, but I've never had a pronlem with them.

Well I go a letter from them about 6 weeks ago saying they would be selling SEAT cars and it would not affect Lexus and everything would be just as normal!!

Well I won’t be losing any sleep over them closing.
I never liked the place after I bought the car from them. mad.gif

Received letter today (presumably sent to all Lexus customers in their database) confirming the Aberdeen move. It's from Sandy Wilson, Managing Director, Town & County Motors (current franchise owner). Quote: "..I am pleased to be able to say that we can now confirm that we are indeed giving up the franchise".

Eh??! Pleased??!! Guess that tells you all you need to know! I've not had impression they've been interested in pushing/supporting Lexus for ages. Sales guy Arthur McKenzie was excellent, but all the other good guys have left in last year and remainder have a real attitude problem There were less and less Lexus models actually being put out on the front lot - they seemed to prefer to display other marques there.

Anyway, Mr Wilson goes on to say: "I can confirm that the new holder of the franchise is Arnold Clark and that Lexus will be located within their Ford garage in Craigshaw Road on the West Tullos Industrial Estate"

No details of when this will happen so not very helpful really. My concern of course is - will it be better at Arnold Clark Ford? Particularly, will the service guys be trained by Lexus, will they be using proper Lexus parts etc? I do also hope this is just a short term move by Arnold Clark to have it located in their Ford garage, and that they might move it into a dedicated Lexus centre in due course. Will keep you posted if I find out any more.

Good news is that Arthur McKenzie has moved over to the new franchise as have some of the other "good guys" who had left the previous franchise during its "decline" over the last couple of years. Susan Rennie's back as the Customer Service Manager as are certain others, whose names I can't remember right now.

Standards had slipped so badly under Town & County's tenure that I must say I'm currently full of optimism for the new setup. Spoke to Susan Rennie today about the Lexus Owners Club and she was already showing an enthusiasm for supporting it which was glaringly lacking at the old franchise. Oh and speeaking of the old franchise, I note they have ensured all their Lexus signs are now replaced with Seat ones. Dear oh dear laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Anyway, reassuring to see that Lexus UK will not tolerate poor standards from their franchisees and are prepared to take action where necessary.

Currently Lexus Aberdeen is having to make do with a temporary showroom at the back corner of the lot at the Arnold Clark Ford dealership, but a spanking new shiny Lexus showroom is apparently on the cards at the same location, with construction poss finished by September.

Here's hoping this is the start of a return to high standards of customer service at Lexus in Aberdeen. biggrin.gif

I was over there today. Arthur, Susan & Derek (mechanic) have all joined the ranks. Susan told me they took another 2 mechanic from T&C. I was over today to sort out a few problem that should have been sorted by T&C. Hopefully AC will be better than T&C. Susan noticed my Goldmember sticker and mentioned you had spoken to her Gareth. How about sticking some flyers/cards in the showroom. Ask Susan if it's possible to pop a flyer/card in every car sold/serviced. This way we could drum up more support for the website. Worth a try.

Do you aberdeen/aberdeenshire lads fancy meeting up sometime? If you want I could set up a Aberdeen Lexus website. Give me a pm and we will orginise a meeting in Aberdeen somewhere.

I've just noticed on gold that Aberdeen Lexus are giving gold members discount on parts and labour. biggrin.gif

Just got my car back from Lexus Aberdeen & the service you get there is excellent. Nothing is a problem and look forward to dealing more with them. Well anything can be better than Town & County!!!

I agree. I had my 2 year service done a week ago and what a difference from when Town & County had the franchise. The new Arnold Clark franchise couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. I also got a new RX as a courtesy car for the day (although they admitted that would not necessarily be the norm!) and loved it. My car had been also been cleaned in & out when I collected it, which wasn't the case when I got my 1 year service at the old franchise.

I see the Dealer Reviews section is back working again, so I'll be adding a new review there as well.
