I don't think my bank account would allow for that.

Other than getting another car, how do I increase HP?

Nothing.

I told him abut it and he seems ok with it. BUT he said that doing anything like that to a car voids the warranty. Can that possibly be true?:?:

Engine mods I am sure of... not sure about exhaust...

At least they're not picky about the exterior. :bounce: I still don't understand why it voids the warranty even if it IMPROVES the engine's performance. And most of the stuf is just bolt on stuff. I guess I could take it off before I go to get it serviced every time.

Actually guys - the warrannty thing is only strictly true in the UK (and possibly EC).
It's illegal to void a warranty in the US unless the warranty holder can prove that the modification was directly the cause of any problem. So (for instance, Lexus could not void the warranty on the gearbox for fitting an aftermarket exhaust etc etc).

You might be right Zee - maybe Chris S can put us straight?
Monster-Mat
Jun 4 2002, 07:39 AM
yes it was me that stated that ...........
its a very fine line between what is and what isnt ...a breach of warrenty, however i have been told by someone in the Toyota Corp, that as with USA it is now the responsability of the manufacturer to prove that a modified part is the sole cause of failiure.
no longer can manufacturers take the blanket warrenty stance with a automobile.

This is what Lexus UK said when I e-mailed them:
"Further to our telephone conversation recently regarding modification to your
IS200 Sport I have now spoken to Technical and Warranty departments. As I said
initially, Lexus do not recommend any modifications to their vehicles, but in
any instance of an alteration it will only affect the warranty
if a problem arises directly from the changes you have made. In which case that
particular part or parts will not be covered, and any work related to that will
be chargeable."

here's what i'd suggest without boosting the car..
Exhaust.. get a quiet one like the TOMS barrel or TRD.
Air filter.. SARD and TRD make replacebale filters for the IS200
and once you have more money.. headers, and final gearing would be a good combo.. or you can go with a SAFC...

I thought the SAFC cannot work with the Is200?

Nope, only with the RS200. The 1G engine has got a very limited number of 'off-the-shelf' electronic mods unfortunately.
