Full Version: Anyone Modded Their Headlight Indicator Lens?

Looking for some advice please guys

I am buying a second set of headlights to add DDE's to them (so I dont need to drive a car without headlights :D ) and was thinking about the orange indicator lens' on each one.

I am thinking of removing these so its clear and then getting the silver bulbs which flash orange (if that makes sense) instead of having orange lens' with clear bulbs.

Any ideas? Advice?

Cheers

Dunkie,

check out the Chrome Indicator Bulbs thread in the Is200/300/Sportcross bit - I think it's got the info you're after :D

you need to pull the headlights apart and re-seal them after you've taken out the orange bit(nasty thing)....check out my sig or you can see a better pic in my garage, its a fairly straight forward job...good luck

It's relatively simple to do. Makes a huge difference.

I did it to mine , using a heat gun , not the simplest job I've ever done ........I got mine dark chromed and fitted custom DDE's , and removed the orange bit , then to finish , fitted TOMS eyelids , 1000% improvement in appearance. BTW I got the fogs dark chromed too , and ot sets off the other lamps nicely. The fogs are easier to pull apart .

how to you dark chromed your light matey, as i got a spare set of standard IS200 light, i though i may try dark chromed it, remove the orange indicator lens and also fit DDE to it...

Thanks for the info guys :D

Now just gotta get some silver bulbs which flash orange that fit the IS indicator.

Also anyone know the best place to feed 12v DC from for my DDE's? As the DDE's I have are only the rings and no instructions (yes I know lol!)

cheers

@Maz : I got them done with a Specialist company in Co. Kilkenny ,
@Dunkie : I used the + and - of the park light wires (BTW White is the earth/negative)

Where can i get some DDE's from and what is a decent price for them?

I read on another forum page that they are custom. Are any designed for the UK IS200 or still a custom fit with slight mods?

Cheers
