Can't believe the variation in service cost, here are my quotes for 40k service:
Leics £410
Notts £360
Woodford £260
Leicester always seems to charge way over the odds. If anything labour market should be slightly cheaper than london (woodford); what a con!

How about calling dealers near the channel ports in Belguim or France.
Combine it with a shopping trip and save even more money
Sounds odd but people have done it coz the service cost was waaaaay cheaper.

Not a bad idea actually!! get some nice french hypermaket booze on the way back too!
Service includes everything stated on the lexus manual (according to the service manager anyway)
Anyone have any experience in woodford's service quality? I did notice that they don't do gold discount.

Leicester = Sytner Group, not known for being cheap at anything.

I did enquire about buying a service package from them, which entails 3 services for a fixed price, they haven't got back to me with a price.
Then again I'm not sure whether I will keep the IS for that long... nissan 350Z is tempting me!!!!!!!!!

Ever looked at the newer Nissans` paintwork Including the new Z.....
Very poor and dull!!! For a car costing nearly £30k i would be very disappointed.

thought they were more like 25k - according to the website they are!??
Mind you, even for that you would still expect better paint thatn say the Lexus!!

Thats if you can get one, my Bro went to have a test drive in one, they had one in the showroom on loan fron Nissan UK and if he wanted to buy the car, he can't and if he wants to order one, they will be around 2-3k more than list..

Thanks immx, i'll be intested to see how you get on.
Buying a 3 service package seems like a bargain. £670 quid for 3 services, not bad considering Leicester have quoted me around £410 for 40K and £600 for the 60K service. Pricing just seems all over the place!!!
Ive seen some import companies selling 350Z for a little over 20K thats got to be worth the money! but then again maybe its worth waiting and seeing what the new IS series will be like in 2005... decisions decisions

Mornin All!
Had my 70K service done yesterdey at woodford, and I said I let you know how it went.
I must say I was impressed by the overall service even though they found over £1000 worth of work my poor IS needed!
I've only had it 10 days & after a full RAC inspection that gave it a clean bill of health!
So I'm at the mo trying to get the RAC to pay for it !!!
Wish me luck!!!!!!!

It dont matter coz they'll just say at "the time of the inspection"everything was in order

March 27, 2004, 9:13 am
Just wondered what was found wrong - for that sum there must be a few items (like ball-joints ?) that would be hard to "knock-out" in just 10 days - therefore surely a strong case for RAC to be held accountable ...
Of course agree with your point re: their defence !
immx
March 27, 2004, 10:28 am
They found :-
NSF Lower ball joint £169.00
Front Discs £230.92
Front Pads £127.08
Rear Pads £101.00
Water pump leaking £370.00
Expansion bottle leaking £135.00
Fan shroud £202.00
========
£1335.00
========
The RAC Said because the engineer said the front pads were low, they wouldn't be liable for any of the braking systen at all! But as for the rest of it the are comming out to re-inspect the car today.
I let you all know the result!
ColinBarber

You can buy the discs and pads and fit them yourself. That will save you some money.

) now!
By the way Immx, how old is your car ?
By the way went into Kwik fit as I had a puncture, engineer (term used very very loosely!) took 1:15 mins to change 1 tyre ---- t**ts! going to formula1 now to get the other 3 done!

March 27, 2004, 12:45 pm
Mines a '99 on the 'T' with 70k on it.
The RAC bloke had just left, he said that all he can say at this stage is there is ware on the ball joint.
I'll have to wait for the full report on monday!
So if I look a bit

at Gaydon u know why!!!!!

Lexus dealers do seem keen to replace brake discs. Do they actually need replacing? Is the water pump leaking or just have a bit of old coolant around it - some leak a little and then are fine.
immx
March 27, 2004, 2:09 pm
To be honest I haven't looked at the water pump, the dealer did say it wasn't too bad. The discs are quite lipped so probably do need replaceing.
I just hope the RAC cough up!!!
LexMeisterGeneral
March 27, 2004, 9:57 pm
Well I hope the RAC do the honourable thing and cough up!
Good luck with it.
