I've noticed of late, rather than people selling their stuff with a set asking for price, more and more are treating it like an auction.

While this is fair enough, it would be nice if there was a sub-folder in buy&sell for auctions of items, and perhaps some clearly defined rules to the process. (i.e. The first post must state an end time/date, all bids must be posted publically, etc..)

That way, it is easier to distinguish between normal 'for sale' and 'auctions'..

If you want to auction something why not just put it on ebay and post a link within buy & sell?

good point colin
however.....

i think its nice to keep things in the club
things that we know a few members are after, its probably quicker to post on here, and can arrange delivery meets easier

at least we know and can trust most of us (i hope)

slightly off topic:
if someone is bidding on ebay perhaps they should make others aware, so they dont end up bidding against each other

wasn't aimed at you, anybody thinking of selling something.

This has come up before, and while we're OK with auctions taking place on the forums, we're not willing to get involved in rule setting or formally sanctioning them, as we want to take no part in disuptes etc.
