We would like your thoughts on wether you would like to attend a track day. This track day is a non competitive and free entry for members of the club only. We would possibly ask all types of media coverage to attend the UK's first ever Lexus Track Day.
We are not asking members to start powersliding or drifting their cars round corners as it can be a fast cruise. Providing we take the necassary precautions we can make this a safe track day. Also I heard that you can get insurance for this on your normal insurance company if you ask. Maybe sammy can enlighten us on this?
We need some serious feedback on this.

'Some' insurance companies will cover. But less and less do. There used to be a loop hole in that most policies excluded racing, pace making etc - so basically track use was covered so long as there were no stop watches or competitive driving involved.
There are a few insurance companies that specialise in track cover. Some charge per event (this is seperate to your road-policy) and you pay for £X amount of cover. Usually about £250 excess.
One chap I know recently paid £45 for £5,000 worth of cover for his S2000. He actually spun and took out a row of cones. On close inspection - a few scratches and a mark that looked like a dent - but not over the £250 excess worth! Polish and dent master and it was sorted. This is airfield experience, not track. Tracks have armco etc, get it wrong on a track and it can mean dead car!
As for entry....... to be honest Steve, I don't think members will complain at paying a fee for this - even if a token fee.... the Club needs to build some cash to cover the costs of bandwidth, and possible future club merchandise - like club stickers. For an airfield day with low numbers on track, you would usually look at paying circa £100. I would certainly be more than happy paying say £49 to find out more about how the IS handles on the limit in a safer environment. (The public roads are not the place for finding the limits)
I would also suggest though that you adopt the very strict rules that we insist on at Honda-R trackdays.... ie No overtaking without consent, on straights only, no agressive driving - always give other drivers lots of space, no crowding...... as long as everyone has space - no reson for it to ever end in tears.
I can get a full list of rules if you want. I assume there would be Marshalls etc with the Yellow / Red / Black flags?

I would really like to do this track day.. even if a load of Lexus guys came up and watched the Honda club.. just to get an idea of how safe it is.
I am sure everyone would take it easy anyway...
I will have to borrow an IS then because mines not going to be any fun! LOL
If we have lets say 10 definate people intersted then yeah i would like to do this in the summer if there are spots left.
Any information to ease concern for members would be great Sammy.

Okay then..... open invite for Team Lexus peeps to come spectate at the Honda-R trackday 4th May at Elvington. Pop along to www.honda-r.org.uk and click future events for details. A map for the venue etc can be found on the BaT site (there is a link from our events bit)
In our next newsletter there is an article about trackdays - we are currently finalising this. Hard copies will be going out to members, but there will also be a pdf file which can be downloaded off the website. I shall let you know when that is up.
Also check out Past Events for reviews of previous trackdays. Also if you check out the Downloads section - the summer newsletter had a review of the Honda-R & FTO Owners Club joint track day. This was the first Honda-R trackday and for most people, their first ever time on track. The review was written by Darren, and it was the first Honda-R event he had ever attended, and first time on track. He started the day so nervous, I think he was wishing the gents were much closer.... he ended the day with a grin so large he struggled to put his helmet on!
I shall make sure you get a copy of the next newsletter through the post Steve.
As for your car not being any fun.... don't you believe it - you can have fun out there in ANY car!!!
