where did you get the tube from... that looks like it will fit the mk1.???

It may be worth get the car tested on a rolling road. Unless the internal diameter of the intake tube is the same as the stock one the calibration of the MAF sensor will be incorrect. There have been owners in the US who have found their engine runs lean with an induction kit.

if engine is running lean, would that mean there is more air and less petrol? What effect would that have on the engine?
Tube is specifically design for Lexus Gs300 1998 onwards with the diamter same as intake mainfold

Yep lean = less petrol in the mixture. This will normally cause the burning process to be a hotter temperature. This may cause long term damage. Of course, that depends how lean.
