Hi people
Can anyone explain why the alarm flashes the indicators five times when I press the lock button on the key twice.

The car is a MKII 98 R reg GS 300.

where are the interior sensors located

It's a microwave sensor rather than ultrasonic. Not 100% sure of the location but I think it's behind the dashboard somewhere. Sometimes when washing the windscreen I set off the alarm if I forget to disarm it.

This is for UK and probably all Euro models. US models do not get interior sensing.

I was told the microwaves radiate from the centre armrest.

I feel so dumb, all the time I have been watching the 5 flashes thinking that it is making my car more secure.

Does the Lexus have a deadlock on the doors. I have not been able to demonstrate this, may be I have been turning that off as well. I had a deadlock on my Vauxhall Omega and always felt that my car was more secure.

If the car has deadlocks there will be warning stickers on the side windows. Only the face-lift series II GS models (nov 2000 onwards) has deadlocks. This is operated by pressing the lock button again within 10 seconds of locking (you get a single flash and you can hear the locks). Wait over 10 seconds and you get the 5 flashes and the interior sensors are disabled.

On the subject, has anyone had a problem with the GS central locking? My lazy locking no longer works and Lexus Hatfield (bless them for their good work) diagnosed a faulty locking computer at around £300.

I guess you have tried another key? Maybe the car just needs to be re-programmed with the keys, although I would have thought Hatfield would have tried that.
