Full Version: Stage 2 Upgrade
Lexus Owners Club > Lexus Models > Lexus IS200 / Lexus IS300 / SPORTCROSS > Modifications & Tuning

Here is a picture of the new pistons and connecting rods for the TDi stage 2 upgrade for the supercharged is200.

The connecting rods are reverse H section forged EN40B steel which about the strongest available with high tensile bolts. The pistons are low compression high silicon forged aluminium.

This combination eliminates the weakness in the standard parts and enables more power to be realised than the current safe level of stage 1.

We are in the process of developing the stage 2 boost kit.

Mark,

Will the engine still be non-interference with the new pistons?
tdiplc
Good question Colin biggrin.gif We have designed these to be fully floating rather than interference.
Monster-Mat
They look very nice, who are they made by

the conrods are much more substantial than the pencil thin OEM ones!!

I could tell you but you know that I would have to kill you biggrin.gif

Suffice to say that the guys we contracted to make them are among the best in the world, as I hope you would expect.

Mark,

Will the engine still be non-interference with the new pistons?

Am I correct in thinking that this means, with an unmodified IS200 engine, if the cam belt breaks there's no chance of the pistons hitting the valves and causing the expensive damage that's often associated with broken cam belts?

Or have I completely misunderstood something?

Woahhhhh there. Maybe I misunderstood Colins question blush.gif

I took the question to mean is the piston to connecting rod fitment an interference fit like standard or fully floating.

If the question was meant to mean is there valve to piston contact during a timing belt failure, I don't know. I think we will check during the course of Daves engine build as this information could be useful.

You don't have time for this messing about - get back to work blink.gif

You can play with these new toys once you've finished the monster - NOT before laugh.gif

That would be sensible Mr Mark blink.gif

Don't worry Tony, The Monster is being worked on non stop except for a bit sleep and food now and then. Dave's engine is also currently undergoing development.

Tony, as you have the stage 1 upgrade already all you need is the engine internals, the stage 2 pulley kit and some FCON remapping.

We will be porting and gas flowing Daves cylinder head soon.

I was thinking about posting some pictures and flow bench data if any one is interested.

It will take a bit of time to post but I don't mind if enough people want to see.
Monster-Mat
id like to see it Mark.as always im a geek and like looking at this kind of stuff.

Guys ???
To pay @ 2.600 for stage 2, plus paid for SC (@4500), you better sell engine + SC and then buy and install a 2JZ-GTE engine and can go to the skies in HP without hazzle ???
Another thing...the engine is no more "virgin".
I particularly donīt recomend stage 2 for the money?
SteveAudioX
Good point... Or perhaps an IS430.... or chop the car in for an EVO 8 ... So many possibilities and opinions but don't we just all luv the LEX 6 cylinder...

The bit where you said "without the hassle".

Believe me there is a fair amount of hassle wink.gif
maferga
"fair amount of hassle" thatīs true regarding the the GTE engine, since all parts are avilable, anyone can do this jobs (most shops are familiar with this engine and its components), plus on less work you get doble HP.

Sorry, I don't agree with you there.

It is much more hassle and much more expensive to get a 2JZ GTE engine in there nicely, although it is well worth the effort when you do.
