Hi,

I am thinking of sellings my Lexus GS430 [Navigator]

Just wondering what it's worth?

It's a 2001 'Y' reg. Platinum Ice, with Suffolk piped leather interior. Widescreen navigation, Wood pack including half wood steering wheel. Full Lexus Main dealer history. Full MOT and 6 months road tax.

1 Former keeper (company in Oxford). Current ODO is 91,030.

I am thinking of advertising for £12,000. Just wanted to put my finger in the wind for a heads up on this board first. Is this price about right?

I paid £15k cash in January with 84k on the clock. Have been very pleased/impressed with performance compared to GS300's.

Any helpful advice would be kindly appreciated. wink.gif

Kind Regards,

Mike.

Judging by AutoTrader etc., closer to 14k would be reasonable since a standard GS 300 same age would go for around 12.5K...........

This should give you some idea on price

I've never seen one for under 17k. They are hard to sell though.

Just finished ringing round BCA (British Car Auctions) to get a rough idea of auction value. They are saying anywhere between £10-12 so surely private must be at least £12-13???

As I say, I paid £15k in January from a dealer in London. At the time, you couldn't buy a GS430 for under £20k for love nor money.....The car does have quite a few stone chips and a couple of light scratches. Probably needs £500 of paint if I'm being really picky unsure.gif

Guess, I'll stick it on ebay this weekend with a reserve of £12k. I'll also stick it in Autotrader/top marques.

Everyone seems to think the market is slow at the moment. This is due to :

A) Football (well, maybe not anymore!, but we wont go into that one! mad.gif )
cool.gif Summer holiday season (other people got better things to spend money on? Don't believe that you can do better than buy a Lexus wink.gif wink.gif wink.gif )
C) Petrol prices so unsure at the moment
D) Interest rate hikes.

Oh, I don't know..... someone somewhere must want to buy my pride and joy tongue.gif

Ah well, here goes......

You don't have this:
Mark Levinson® 8-speaker stereo hi-fi system

and they all have wood. Suffolk has it in Walnut and the other two colours have black wood (with leather steering wheel).
djmike
Thanks for pointing this out Colin.

Why does the lexus specifaction of the 430SE state :

Mark Levinson® 8-speaker stereo hi-fi system with 3-wave-band RDS radio with 18 pre-set channels and Dolby cassette ???????

Also, really wanted to push the wood pack. Some 430's don't have half wood steering/gear shift. This made a big difference to me. msn-wink.gif

The specs of the cars change each year but Lexus never seem to list the differences.

The Mark Levinson system is available as an option on 2002/2003 + cars. I think it costs about £600 extra. You know if you have that because it has Mark Levinson printed on the head unit and you have a speaker right on the top of the dashboard.

You can just about see the extra speaker here:

I've never known a 430 not to have a leather/wood gear shift but yes it's only Suffolk that gets the wood on the steering wheel, although it's not really a 'pack' they all get it.
djmike
Thanks for that Colin. I'll point this out (about the Levinson sound system) to any prospective buyer before proceeding.

Strange how Lexus don't list the differences.

Ah well, even without the Levinson it's still one heck of a bargain !! tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif

Good luck with the sale. I can see it going over your reserve.

Awesome looking car, you must be sad to have to sell it cry.gif

Seems like a great price for one of these too.

Really like the MK2 GS300/GS430, possibly my next car msn-wink.gif

Best of luck with the sale.

Thanks Gavin.

Phone has never stopped ringing. Loads of e:mail enquiries too. I've advertised at £12,750. Lots of interest.

Mind you, at this price it's a steal. Lexus have an X reg with same sort of mileage for £17,500 and there are others on autotrader for £16,500 with 79k.

Will definately miss it. The power is unbelievable (Talk about a wolf in sheeps clothing! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

driving.gif Good luck!
THe story on Mark Levinson is this.
He's a VERY prestigious Hi-Fi maker in US. Equipment goes for £10k for an amp-at least- etc (domestic, not car!) All the major car makers wanted to get him to do stuff for them, but he declined saying that the cars weren't good enough to put his equipment in (bad sound conditions)
ONLY a LS400 satisfied him; that silent interior/quiet engine

Wow, what a bargain price. I'm tempted to take a loan out and buy it laugh.gif

The new 4.3V8 must be a superb engine...

The American version has 300bhp and has been tested 0-60 as low as 5.7, so in the US markets it can actually leave behind a BMW 540i Auto, and keep on the tail of the 540i manual.....I think the UK spec does it in the low sixes...
ColinBarber
UK times are 0-62 so that adds on .2 to .3 of a second.
G2EOF
Anyone know the difference between the USA & UK spec engines?

Is there a switch somewhere :-)

I want that extra 21 BHP !!

Not just the LS430 that has the Mark Levinson audio package. Its in the GS and SC as well.

Standard on the LS430, SC430 and RX300 SE-L. Optional on the GS range.

I have a speaker on the front dashboard on my Aristo. Does it mean it is a Mark Levinson audio system (I was wondering how come the sound was THAT good) . This could explain it.
