Hi All,

Just an update, as I think a few of you will have seen my recent problems with Lexus Oxford?

Well the car has had the 40,000 mile / 4 year service completed (though its only just done 30,000). Overall I am very impressed with the work carried out, though I did have a slight problem with the interior being damaged with the stereo removal and had to point this out myself before it was repaired, but this was the only thing that I was not happy with.

Was quoted £300 to £350 for the service, the final bill was £307 and that included having locking wheel nuts added @ £30 (this included my Gold 15% discount on parts and labour). I did supply my own oil, I managed to get Castrol Magnatech (4.5L bottle) for £16 from Brown Brothers/Part Co. Was a very good saving, as the same bottle was £24 in Halfords! ph34r.gif

The spoiler was fitted F.O.C, due to my earlier problems, as offered by the centre manager. They had a few problems fitting the spoiler, so they had my car longer than expected, but I can't complain as I had a nice 04' plate LE to drive around in - will write more about that in the normal forum.

So hats off to Lexus Oxford, after all the teething problems I suffered, they certainly have made up for it and more, will definately use them again in the future. cool.gif

P.S. Pics to follow, of the new spoiler! Its going to be either the lower skirting all round or a s/c next!

Chaps,

Further to my post above, I would like to say I how I have gone back to my orginal thinking of Lexus Oxford!

When the car went in, I made them aware of a noise coming from what seemed to the be the drivers side front wheel. I was told that it was probably a sticking caliper and would be fine after the service.

Anyway, the noise was slightly there still after the service, I made them aware of this when I received the courtsey call. I was asked to also email the service manager, so he had double awareness of it. Well 3 weeks on and I have still heard nothing! I even emailed again last Monday, asking what was going to be done about this?

Since this, I have now noticed a metal rubbing sound, from the passenger side front wheel, when turning right! I am very concerned (obviously) about this, is it something that hasn't been fitted back correctly in the service? Am I doing more harm by still using the car? Unfortunately, I am working all weekend, so i wont be able to get it to a dealer, until during the week (I work nights normally).

After all the problems I have had, I am not convinced that letting the car go back into Lexus Oxford is the best course of action. I am consdering taking it to Reading or Southampton, but am I going to receive the same level of service? Maybe I am better off taking it to a guy who runs his own car repair place, as he will be more thorough, as he can't afford to lose customers unlike these big franchise companies?

Gripe over....

After a recent visit to Lexus Oxford, I have taken the car to Lexus Guildford for a second opinion. They were very effecent, welcoming, overall I would say an excellent centre, others could well learn from them...

Anyway, they confirmed that from the sounds/symptons, they also believe this to be wheel bearings! The car is booked in for next Monday to have this done under warranty.

I must say, was very refreshing to see genuine customer service.

Forgot to add...

On my visit to Lexus Oxford, it appears there is a genuine problem with the centre as a whole... Not only has the Centre Manager left, but also the after sales/service centre manager quit!

Hmmm, wonder whats been going on up there?????

I abandoned Lexus Oxford about a year ago as I had a series of unsatisfactory visits and was being quoted significantly higher charges than other dealers. I now reside (happily for the time being) at Lexus Leicester.

Use your feet and spread the word - poor service should not be assoicated with Lexus.

Thanks for that????

Couple of points:

I also use Guildford and I am very impressed, always have my calls returned and the service centre cannot do enough to help. Mind you, I came from a Citroen so no contest hehe.gif

Second point, spoiler, tell your insurance company, some have been known to class them as an unofficial mod that causes hassle later if you need to claim.

I seem to recall a post here where a spoiler caused the insurance company to refuse a quote ?
