Right then,, i have elected myself to sort out a karting event..seeing as the last karting event never happened.
So Karting will be at
Daytona Racing in Milton Keynes.
They have twin engined karts, the track is demanding..
So depending on numbers will decide the type of event we will do..
A Date will be put forward once we have a good turn out of names..
i have chosen MK simply cause im organising it,, if our northen members wish to do some karting then perhaps a member can arrange something. what would be good is to have a south versus north LOC team karting challange..
So Far the people that are interested:-

we tried that before but everytime either myself or tony came up with an idea nobody would commit, the problem we found was most decent tracks needed a deposit for a large group and nooone was interested....
good luck if it could be organised as i still have the winning team trophy from the toc vs loc first outing in oxford

Good luck then Gordon but i'd leave Daytona alone as when i contacted them a bit back they wanted a minimum of 20 peeps @ £47.50 each payable in advance, also had a similar quote off speedkart in warrington, grand up front minimum 20 peeps

Good luck Gordon, would love to have a friendly karting spot over your way as we could rotate the northern meets from west to central to east.
After this sunday the central karting venue will not need a deposit for future meets and the eastern one will even give us a discount with no deposit needed as well
Fargo, pop over to TOC and pm Knowlson as he will be able to get a TOC southern karting team up to give you a run for your money

Then maybe at a later date we could bring the 2 TOC 6 man northern karting teams and the 1 southern 6 man karting team to a midlands venue and we can then see who is best

Aug 4 2004, 08:52 AM
well with only 10 the only option to us at daytona would be the Iron man
Iron Man
This is the most demanding of single driver races Daytona offer. Each driver will have a 5 minute practie and a 5 minute qualifying session followed by a one hour race.
(£75 per driver weekday)(£85 per driver weekend)

it is a bit of a trek for you dave!
bit of concern on the price over on TOC mr fargo, not really thought about it but it does seem a bit pricey £85 for an hour and 10mins karting??? but saying that we will be in twin engined karts and on a pretty good track.
how many do we need for a gp with heats and all that and whats the price of that like?
i personally dont mind how much it costs i just wanna go karting!!!!!!!!!!!
Fargo
Aug 5 2004, 09:35 AM
well it aint cheap
have a look
here for the costs and people numbers.
this aint no dodgy back street karting track with karts that fall to pieces.. i remember the oxford track that was arranged.. you had chains coming off,, wheels, and the kart i had the throttle cable snapped so i was left with one hand onthe wheel and the other on the carb..
these babys are twin engined,,and the track is big..
Wosket
Aug 5 2004, 11:34 AM
so if we've got 10 now can we just go for it?
had a look at the
three sisters track as someone mentioned it earlier. looks pretty good, twin engined 70mph karts and one of the fastest tracks in the uk apparantly and they do a gp thing which works out cheaper.
i quite like the idea of racing for a whole hour though!

would it cause any probs for other members if it was at 3 sisters?
i think numbers could be boosted by the northern toc'ers as its not as far to travel and cheaper.
dave, would you and big paul travel to the 3 sisters?
i've emailed the track to see what they can do for us but i still like the idea of a 1 hour endurance race, 3 sisters do a 30 min practice and 2 hr endurance race for £185 per team, min of 6 teams and no limit to the number of drivers per team.
