Just wondering if anyone here has upgraded their broadband from 512kb/s to 1Mb/sec. If so did you notice any difference?

Yep - me, great download speeds but you don't double your D/L speed by double your bandwidth but what you'll notice is the ping rate is between 1 - 5 when online gaming etc.... also great for large files - usually 2 GB and over

I have been upgraded to 750mb and truthfully not noticed that much of a difference. I think the main advantage to upgrade to 1mb is if you upload a lot of stuff to the net as that is where the speed is upped. If you mainly download then it is not worth the extra. If you play a lot of online games then it could be worth the upgrade.

I've been given the same upgrade, and yes i have noticed the difference.... only once in a while tho...

If doing a large download from a site that will give you 1Mb of bandwidth then you will see a 100% increase in speed. Normal web browsing etc. you won't see much difference.

I'll echo what Colin has said, your browser won't really notice any speed increase, but if you like to use P2P etc you will get roughly twice the through put down. If you are going for DSL (Not Cable) then generally it does not matter what your downspeed is the upload will always be 256k, 128k upload on cable.

600k/750 k cable has 128k upstream, 1Mb/1.5Mb/3Mb has 256k upstream
