Hi,
It's my Birthday today & I received a brand new Lexus Sat Nav CD (V3.7) for my 1999 Lexus LS400 (Costing a scandalous £155 apparently) as a present.
In my infinite wisdom I made a backup copy of the CD & tried it to see if it worked. Now when I Power up I get the Lexus GSM Sat Nav welcome screen & nothing else. None of the other buttons will function either so I cant use the radio or climate controls!
The CD is unresponsive & refuses to eject.
IS there another way to eject the CD? Or is there a system reset that can be performed?
I'm desperate & feel bloody stupid for trying a copy CD, but I didn't think for one second that the result would be so catastrophic!
Not the start I wanted to my Birthday, please please help.
Thanks

Geoff

Not too sure about the reset, but you can try disconnecting the car battery and reconnecting and then turn on ignition and press eject quickly...

Try the disconnect of the battery or remove the connectors from the Sat Nav unit then reconnect turn on ignition and then try and eject.

When you upgrade the version it sometimes updates the units firmware, if it had problems reading it could get corrupted. Hopefully this hasn't happened. Always use the original disc first, you need to make sure that is working correctly. Then you should be ok to use a backup copy however some reader have problems now and again with copied discs.

Thanks for the responses. I have tried both removing the battery & the leads to the SAT NAV, both without success. If only there was an emergency eject button - I feel sure I could get it to work if I had the chance to put the original CD back in. This is sounding more & more like a whoppingly expensive repair, but I feel it very unfair - so much of the cars system shouldn't depend on your SAT NAV disc! Anyone know of another way to get the copy disc out?
I'd be very grateful for any help.
Many thanks

I'd offer to strip the unit down for you to remove the disc but your not in my area.

SUCCESS!!
Out of deperation I took the unit out, dismantled it & gently prized out the CD. It got the use of my Radio & Climate Control back so I then tried inserting the new SAT NAV CD & it works!
Life is Good & it's a very happy Birthday again!
Thanks for your help

Good news, hopefully you can enjoy what remains of your birthday.

Could you see any reason why the disc got stuck? Cheap CD-R maybe, hopefully you didn't stick a label on it?

I dont think the CD was physically stuck, it was more like the system couldn't read it & so didn't seem to want to eject it. It was a branded (Memorex) CDR & had no label on - maybe it just had some bad sectors or something. Serves me right for trying to be a smarty pants & certainly the last time I ever try a copy CD in the Sat Nav!
Thanks again

I allways used to copy mine and keep the original safe, never had any problems.
