i own a lexus GS300 SE 2002. when i drive the car it appears to always drive on gear 5. is this normal. i know it drives on gear 5 becuase when i switch it to manuel it say gear 5 on my dash. i only notice the gear change when i put my foot to the board and it kicks down a gear. Is this normal?

I sounds pretty normal to me - you must be starting off in lower gears or the car would never move.
The gearbox will "learn" your driving style - try being a little more aggresive and see what happens.

Do you mean that the car is in 5th gear, or that it's just displaying a 5? - I can't believe tht it'd even move if it was in 5th??

The display on the dash indicates were the gearbox selector is and not what gear the car is in.
