I've just had a call from the Lexus dealer I bought my car from asking where the tax disk is for my old car (traded in)
I removed it because the last couple of times I sold a car on the garages have said "it's no use to us. get a refund"
I really don't see why I should give the dealer the tax for a car when I had to pay for a new disk on the Lexus.
Any thoughts folks?

mine was 2nd hand
and I would have thought that if you bought new you paid for "on the road"

If the car they sold you didn't come with a tax (i.e. they charged you extra for it) they shouldn't expect your trade in to be taxed. Tell them you cashed it in to pay for the new one, or that you expected the selling price to be 'on the road'.

When I got mine I didn't get any road tax and the fuel light was on when I picked it up (mine was an ex-demo, too)! I did manage to wangle a couple of extra hundred quid from his first trade-in offer, and I also asked for (and got) a chrome tail pipe fitted. They aren't giving much away, but I'd tell 'em to check the trade-in form you received, and see if it's on there about the road tax. If it's not (YOU check first!!), send them an empty tax disc holder so they have somewhere to stick it !!

Well, it turned out to be beyond my control anyway.
Grilfriend had already sent it off to the DVLA by the time I got in last night

Hi trevorx,
Look in the IS200/300 gallery, I think they are somewhere in the first 10 pages.

When I bought mine, I got six months Tax for free and a full tank of gas, the dealer came with me down the road showing me the sat nav and we stopped at a fuel station, he filled the tank up for me there and gave my wife a big bunch of flowers (Nice touch)
My advice is find a better dealer, they do differ from place to place
