Howdy,

I am thinking of replacing my battery before the winter to avoid any problems.
I have noticed the engine clicks over very quick when warm. However, at times when cold the ignition takes a few more seconds. As Colin Barber points (buying a GS300 what to look for) out that the engine/ignition should engage immediately or else its an indication of a weak battery. I will get it checked anyway but in the meantime can some MK2 owners or MK1 owners recommend which battery and from where and how much to spend. Thanks! Or please direct me to Battery info on the website.

The engine may not fire up instantly but the turning over of the engine should be fast. If it is slow then the battery is probably on it's way out.

The standard battery is something like 55Ah capacity. Try and get something a little more powerful, obviously making sure it is the same physical size

Some of the Halfords and Bosch batteries have a 4 year warranty which gives peace of mind

The battery for the Mk2 GS is a non-preferred size. In my view the best available is the Bosch premium one. This cost £ 52 plus V.A.T. from Russells who have branches in N/NW London and Herts. PM me if you need further information.

If you DIY, make sure that you have the passcode for your sound system or satnav otherwise it will be a sod to get working again.
