could it be gearbox, i've heard they are indistructable on the LS400, would it maybe need a service, if so what does this involve and how much am I looking at?

I'm getting a slight hesitation when pulling off, don't think it's engine, any ideas??

On the GS, this is a fairly common problem and is connected with the ECU.
Try resetting yours by disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes (don't forget your radio code if you have one)
