How easy is it to remove the ash tray, cigarette lighter and all the gubbins from a GS?
I have a cunning plan to install my Road Angel 2 in there.
I wouldn't have to have the bracket in the window, not keep removing it when I leave the car.
Simply push the panel back up, and its all neatly hidden away.

Just pulls out and unplug the wiring. Open the ashtray and pull.

Metal clips that go through holes in the panel above.

yup!
the RA2 is GPS based, so doesn't 'detect' safety cameras.
it does have a laser detector in the back, but I would be willing to lose that functionality, as I think its a bit pointless (an 'its too late' detector is right mate )

so where's the GPS receiver mate?? - in the Road Angel 1 - it's in the unit itself and the top of it has to face skywards

its an all in one unit mate - no external GPS unit.

You can get a 're-radiating antenna' which you can put on top of the dash in the corner or something, so you can place the Road Angel where you like. Had same issue with my Geodesy. I was contemplating updating to a Road Angel 2, but if the laser unit is useless, I can't see much point in replacing the Geodesy...

I've just got mine on top of the dashboard, pretty much in line of site
I wired it into a switched 12v behind the dash and ran all the wires between the windscreen and the dash
I have my trafficmaster monitor on the side of the centre console
(it all gets a bit full up when you have GPS, SatNav, Trafficmaster, MP3 and a handsfree dunnit mate)
