Lexus Staffs' phoned and mailed me to say my car has arrived and told me my new September reg. I was real happy, I then got a phone call today from the manager and he said the car came as an automatic! I'm annoyed but it isnt the dealers fault and I'm sad because I may have to wait longer for the car...
Going to go tomorrw and see them and work something out.

Play ya cards right and try and get a body kit out of them or something, I mean its a pretty big ***** up, Besides you could be waitning a long time. Maybe introduce them to the club web site and people power.
Good luck

What ever the case, don't accept an Auto unless you really like driving one.
They might offer you a different color.
Personally I don't like autos, so I'd rather wait.

Blimey, that's a bit of a poor do. I mean it's not like they just forgot to fit a spoiler or mud-flaps is it??
I'd push for some recompense if I were you.

Supercharged- its the dealership where Chris Shipley works so they are on here. It is'nt their fault but its a problem, they will have to sort it quickly or I'm going to get a different car, don't want to but I need a new car.
shalao- They offered me the choice of another colour and said they will pay for the extra cost of metallic paint but I aint budging from my original black with beige interior

Sorry to hear that Playa - I know how excited your were about your new car. Kepp your chin up guy - and don't accept a car that you don't want mate - you'll regret it.

How about demanding that they loan you a car from 1st september until yours is delivered? You might have to insure it but tell them you need a car from then.

Offering to pay for metallic paint. I think they can do better than that. That was obviously there opening bid as you are entitled to something, go back to them and demand something silly.....then meet in the middle. You should be compensated. You say its not their fault...maybe....but it sure as hell ain't yours!

I'm very sorry Playa !
I only heard this afternoon just as I was about to put the number plates on it,when I was stopped because the wrong car had arrived.
It does happen from time to time I've seen it happen with Toyota's,Subaru's,Saabs.
I nearly didn't have my car,I'd waited 3 months for it and when it arrived it came damaged
If you speak to me tomorrow we'll sort something out for you
and I will personally give you free of charge £85.00's worth of beige IS200 tailored carpet mats plus whatever the Sales Manager offers you
My deepest apologies
Chris

Cheers everyone for the comments. I am going to stick to my guns with the black IS and beige leather. I thought about asking them for a loan IS until I get mine. might ask for a bodykit (worth a try)!!
Chris-cheers mate for the carpet mats thats cool. I shall ask to see you tomorrow when I get there then?
My name is Demetrios by the way people but I'm known by everyone as Mitch (family gave me the name Mitch when I was a kid for some reason)
Yeah I know it will be worth it when I get it but I was looking forward to 1st September. Good thing I never called any girls and told them I'd pick them up on that day then.................

Playa, have you paid for it, if so push, push, push for the best extras u can get, If you were trading a car into them and turned up with a different one they would politely tell you to****of, the shoe is on the other foot and after a long wiat, it may not be the dealers fault but it is the company's fault/problem.
Get them to see if there is another black one in a dealer in uk, I think there may be a black sport in Exeter showroon, ask for that:eyes:

I have to agree, it's not like Lexus to make such a balls-up. In my mind you should push for a bunch of options and a loan car while your waiting (The mats internally and the sports grille will look great - nice one Chris

Problem is sorted now everyone, they said another black IS with beige interior wouldnt arrive until November at the earliest. so I opted for a blue one, it arrives on 1st September. I got the metallic paint free plus the grill and carpets (cheers Chris).
The killer was though when I went across the road to the depot to see the black IS. It was very nice but spoiled so much by that ugly auto setup! anyway may have less problems with stone chips now
Cheers everyone for the advice

yeah blue is nice but black is more gangsta style. looks more menacing in someons rear view mirror. like night rider:cool:
ah well maybe less cleaning and stone chips??

Aug 16 2002, 01:58 PM
Playa,
Blue rocks, get the kit on it and it really doesn't matter what it looks like in the rear view mirror as all they should be seeing is your dust.
P.S. I had delivery problems with mine in Oxford, something delayed the delivery like Sept 11th, so I felt a bit guilty about giving them a hard time.
Well worth the wait though, just think you'll soon have the mod'ing fever!!

Catch the mod' ing fever I've had it since I orderd the car in June!! don't know which spoiler to have. Think I am going to design my own and have it made. Bodykit another problem don't want the kit Lexus supply but I want something crazy!! first things first though- tinted windows, £1500 stereo system then maybe some 18" khans or some chromes, if I can find some at the right price. bodykit is after that if I put one on
