I never knew the GS had heated mirrors as I never saw a button for them.
only when i saw the pair steaming I realised that they are automatic.. sweet!

That is normally how it's done on most cars including most of the Lexus range.
For some odd reason the 1999-2001 IS200s had the mirror heaters on all the time!

Is that the button next to the folding side mirror button? Its makes an awful earpiercing screech on mine?

that ear piercing screech is normal.. it supposed to knock all the water off your mirrors in the mornings.

Rodders is right - they come on with the heated rear window.
Rodders is always right. Him and my wife, which is why we don't have an encyclopedia in this house as she know's everything.
A related piece of useless information. My GS was recently damaged by cement being swept off a hotel being constructed. One of the parts replaced was the mirror glass. £ 130 for the part alone. Apparantly it has a heated gel on the back, hence the cost.

My Series I heated wing mirrors work on the rear demister.
