Was in the dealers yesterday, and I noticed the new 200 and 300's come with Bridgestone Potenza tyres. Mine is shod with Dunlop Sport 9000. Why the change? Have they found a better match/performing tyre in the Potenza, or is it a cost thing, do you think?

Mine came with the Pirelli P-Zero Rosso's too, but I was speaking to one of the salesmen at Lexus Derby and his came with totally different tyres (goodyears I think) and we both have the same 18" wheels:?::?::?:

seems strange that they have gone back to Potenza's....they were what was originally fitted but they were wearing out terribly fast ......especially on the fronts of the IS200.......so they went for the more exspensive but better wearing Dunlops which i think are generaly a better tyre anyway
id put it down to cost:rolleyes:

Mine has Dunlop SP9000 on it with 12k miles. I am very happy with them, no wear on the rear and minimal on front outsides. Should see at least 20k out of them probably more.
If they wear out, I will defo be asking for Dunlops again

The Pole Position S03 is an AAA rated tyre - if that's what they're fitting I don't think that Dunlops could possibly be any better.

Mine also has the P Zero Rossos. My old IS was a 2000 model with Bridgestone RE040s. I went to a Bridgestone Dealer to change them and he told me that these were tyres for the Japanese market and were too soft for our crap roads. He said the S02s and SO3s were ment for Europe . I changed to the S03s and they were spot on, much better wear rate.
They can't have changed the tyres for cost as I believe the P Zeros are a small fortune to replace !

mine originally came with the potenza's, as matt said they wore out very quickly (about 9000 miles). changed them for michelin pilot sport, grip is better and more progressive but noise is definately up. i will change to either toyo proxes, advan neova, need to do more research first
or advan 048
