Full Version: Windom Confused

Hi chaps,

I am a bit confused. I have recently bought a Toyota Windom 2.5g 1995 and have been told by my local Toyota dealer that I need to go to Lexus for any bits as this is the Lexus ES300 apart from the badges. I need a nearside headlight assembly as mine seems to be letting in moisture which I believe is an MOT failure. Instead of bothering with Lexus at this stage, I tried Breakerlink for the part and gave the chassis number and was immediately contacted by a chap in Glasgow who sent me the part. It was totally wrong and very square shaped, although the inner workings appeared to be similar. The headlight on my Windom is very long and sleek and wraps around the corner. The supplier in Glasgow assured me it was from a 1995 ES300 and didn't think that the headlight had been changed that year, but of course I had to send it back. I am reading that the Camry shares similar parts to the Windom/ES300. Should I think about ordering Camry parts from breakers? Will the part number from Lexus assist me to get a used part? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi

Not all camry parts are the same.. especially the body parts

I drilled a hole in the side of the light unit on my windom which dried up the condensation alot... then just before the MOT i stuck the headlights on a placed a jacket over the headllight for 20 mins (keeping my eye on it) to produce heat which dried the light up enough to pass the MOT

Thanks for that Steve - I will try it, but I would still like a (near) perfect one if I can get one, without paying Lexus new prices. I also need a few other bits, like one of the buttons on the stereo that is a bit worn and a new leather cover for the steering wheel which is a bit scuffed. This car has been rebadged several times by the look of it, so I had a pro paint job done on the rear and got the gold plated Lexus badges and it's starting to look quite pretty. I have been scouring the net for a while and have found some useful sites, usually breakers, but no sites that specialise in used Lexus parts yet.

probably it make sense to post some pics of your car ... since these are parallel imported cars and configurations may differ...

Okay thanks again. Have ordered another headlight from a breakers in Dartford in Kent. He said they specialise in Japanese cars and it was from a 1995 Windom so there should be no problem. I will post some pictures when I can escape from work.

the camry ones ill not fit teh square shaped ones i am not sure about ,it might have been a camry one ,was it frosted on teh lens instead of clear with 2 projectors inside?
The average price is anywhere from 100 to 300 quid.
You need a specific 95-96 year ones only as yours have a darker tint to teh metal and the lens has 3 lines on tehm while the 92-94 are chrome inside and no lines.
