A friend of mine has been a volunteer at MENCAP in Maidenhead for some years now and is getting ready for Christmas. They have Father Christmas visiting on 20th December and are looking for donations for gifts to give to the members.

I wondered if any of you had anything you could donate? Age ranges vary, but anything from stickers to colouring books to smellies would be welcomed, for males and females.

Claire, how about a LOC group Xmas donation to various charities?

I've started seeing someone who has a genetic bone disease, she's fine now but in the years ahead things are going to start getting hard going.... It's called craniometaphyseal dysplasia - she's fine now, but long term things could get complicated...

I'd happily put £50 up straight away that could be donated to charities - how about setting up a LOC thread where we could name various charities and then split the total across them at the end?

Anyone?

Call me a pessismestic fella, from my experience <20% atually goes to the needy and the rest goes on flights , expenses, and other stuff - paper work, postit notes and rather nice offices.............Medicien sans sans frontiers need the real cash, front line fellas.................4 get most of the British qualified et al...........any of u doctors or nurses,have a look ...............hope theres some out there!
