I got new IS alloys fitted under warranty recently - now I have noticed that the inside fronts are starting to wear - could the new alloys be the cause or is it just co-incidence - the steering also feels heavier than it used to (tyres pressures are all ok).
Car is due in for its 10000 mile service next week - is my problem worth a mention?

Get them to re-do the geometry under warranty. You should not get uneven tyre wear unless you are driving hard, but that would be on the outside of the fronts.biggrin.gif

This is odd as since I had the new wheels my tyre wear is negligable! You will recall I scuffed the fronts out on mine in 10000 miles. When the new wheels were fitted the part worn rears were fitted to theh front and the new tyres on the back. In the last 4000 miles the fronts have worn 0.5mm Go figure. I now run with 32psi in the fronts and 35 psi in the rears, used to have 35psi all round. Dont know if that makes a difference

I use 33psi all round.

I fiddled around with the tyre pressures for weeks after I got the car to find a combination I found "acceptable" I was astonished how much difference there was to the car by changing the pressures by as little as 2 psi

What did you decide was the best pressure after all that testing?
Blue Thunder
I tried 35psi all round which is the higher speed rating, but found generally around town the fronts didnt "stick" as well as I would have liked, so I mixed and matched. At the moment 32psi in the front and 35psi in the back works well for me. My journey every day is a mix of A roads and Motorways and I rarely exceed 85 mph (no never officer) but if I drove at that speed for longer I would use 35psi all round.

I have the Dunlop SPS9000s on the car from new, I was surprised at the low wear rate as I drive it HARD. I do notice that there is a bit of scruff on the sides, but both the sides are the same. Strange since this country should have higher left front wear due to roundabouts. But overall, I am very very impressed with the low wear. I am now on 12000 and it has been about 6000 hard hard miles at least (the rest is on M.way). Hard braking, hard sweeping corners, few H.brake turns, lots of traffic light starts, some power slides when it was went and tried when not.... and it's still only about 1/2-3/5 worn!

I use F33psi and R35psi too! It's perfect set up too I think. I drive above that speed mentioned most of the time (middle of the night, etc) but have found no problems or need to bump up the pressure.
