snow chains are very good if used correctly, used em in Bosnia on Trucks, and in Bavaria on my Moped

Yes many years ago when stationed in Germany.
They do work. But can be noisy

how easy are they to get on and off ,and can they only be used in thick snow .in other words when i hit a road that has been gritted the (M20)do i need to remove them and how easy is this

When you open up the box, the first think it says on the instructions is:
"We recommend you practice fitting these chains in the warm and dry"
I couldn't agree more - having looked at that myself and thinking "sod, how hard can in be".
1 week later and the car is in 4 foot deep snow drifts, and needs digging out before muggins can even start working out how the bloody snow chains go on. It took 30 mins just to work out what "place tag A into ring B means", all lying on my back in dirt and snow at -20C.
For gods sake, have a practice first

gone down to 60%, so Steve might be able to get the Deckchair out again in sunny Bournemouth
