Makes no difference mate ..... you can probably compress JPEG files ... more ... and usually, JPEG fies are more commonly used !

One possible reason is that maybe the original pictures are using colours that aren't "web safe". In photoshop you can try and save the pics. using a web palette (under image>mode>indexed colour) to see if that makes a difference to how the picture looks in a browser.

i am usingthe Save for Web option shahid,, wouldnt that optimise the pics

I've just realised I've been talking bull as JPEGs keep all colour information (unlike GIFs).

I'm out of my depth here now I'm afraid. :(

Hi mate,

Not sure if this is right, but if you are re-sizing the images for the web. It might slightly alter the colouring as the pixel rate changes.

I don't know if this is accurate, but would make sense..sort of :blink:
Steve
photos should be in JPG format.. these hold millions of colours.. GIF format is for drawn images, buttons, animations and only have 256 colours.

so guildline is

photos -> JPG
Web made images, special effects, animations -> gif or PNG
Fargo
ta

it seems that some are darker and some are fine so i'll have to see whyyyyyyy
