Brettster
First of all Read and Understand the information about work shop guides, Neither Lexus Owners Club or Myself shall be held responsible if you damage your car or yourself.

this is the usual orange flasher. not very upto date

changing this is very easy, this guide will also show you what you need to do to change the bulb in your side flasher should it fail.

first step, grab something thin and plastic like your Lexus Owners Club Card as used here, and slide it into the rubber seal as shown here.

Push until the end of the flasher pops out

then remove the flasher as shown here

the grey connector on the back twists until it unlocks from the flasher unit, a bulb can be replaced or a clear flasher unit replaced with an orange bulb.
fitting the flasher unit back onto the car is just a matter of checking everything fits together nice and tight and then pushing the unit into the hole and thats it
Job Done

Clear Flasher on my GS300 now looks like this.

A vast improvement I think and its a quick and low cost cosmetic mod.

Many thanks to Chris Shipley for supplying the parts.

nice one brett - looking good.

on my list to do - think the orange sides look awful, especially on a dark car like mine.

you get the sides from an RX?

how did you get the bulb out brett?
ColinBarber
New ones come complete, unless you just brought the lens which means you will also need orange bulbs.

I've got the complete unit Col, with orange bulbs (wouldn't have had clear lenses and white flashers wink.gif )

its just the only the lens seems to twist off, leaving the bulb in the holder
ColinBarber
there is a little plastic clip you have to push down whilst pulling the connector. Don't let go of the connector and let it fall back into the wing wink.gif

If you cannot get the connector off you could just swap the bulbs over - they just pull out.
Brettster
twist off the orange/clear bit, then just pull out the bulb with a firm grip.
i left the old bulb holders on and just swapped the bulbs.
Matthew_McNally
thats cheating!

laugh.gif laugh.gif

its bugger to get that clip off - my fingers are killing me, and I've had no success at all.
Brettster
Yeah, thats exactly why I left mine as they were too hehe
Go on Matt, you can cheat too!!!
Matthew_McNally
think I'll wait until I get some feeling back in my fingers, and go back just swap the bulbs blush.gif

they just pul out yeah?
Brettster
yup
just pull out
same as the side lights.
but getting the sidelight holders out of the GS!!! thats another story.

I've just done the same on my Mk1 GS, looks even better if you buy a pair of the chromed amber bulbs. No orange shows through at all when they aren't flashing.
DJ Wozza
we want pics !!

You dont need the clear bulbs if the lens is smoked tomato.gif shifty.gif ....i got an amber 6 led bulb in mine msn-wink.gif link
