well, overall i'm not that impressed.
but,
obiously I cant wait to see it in the flesh so to speak.
i like the interior though
Steve
Mar 1 2005, 11:55 AM
think a sporrts grill, kit and new wheels would look nice... carbon fibre to replace the wood
Colin P
Mar 1 2005, 11:56 AM
yea, maybe some lexus lights for the back too!
carbon fibre in the interior instead of wood is a good idea
to me the rear lights look like the G35 and the front lights have a littlle of the 350z due to the indicator stop running vertically
Steve

has Intelligent Adaptive Front Lighting system
Also radar controlled Pre-Crash safety system
Colin P
Mar 1 2005, 12:03 PM
yea, i'm sure all the gadgets are amazing and the interior looks good, just not sold on the exterior at the moment.
i'm sure it would look better in other colours!
Steve
Mar 1 2005, 12:04 PM
what you need to do is stick it next to an old IS.. definatly a much better looking car
The interior is much better too... old IS interior let the car down and many people have mentioned they dislike the interior of the OLD IS

would have looked better in blue more of a contrast between lights, wheels, grille, etc

Nice to see they're thinking of the female buyers. Sorry couldn't resist
In terms of looks and initial reaction, I think it's the same as everything when it changes. It's gonna take some getting used to, then people slowly come around to it. Just like when these boards changed over.
Personally, i like it, but cant wait to see the full res pics to have a proper closer look
Colin P
Mar 1 2005, 12:07 PM
yea the interior of the new one is much better and I know it makes the 'old' IS look a little dated maybe.
I dont think anyone can say they doint like the interior though, I wonder what colour contrast options there will be?
I see the push button start there!
Steve
Mar 1 2005, 12:09 PM
blackwood will be one of them i bet

Unsure looks like a Honda or Hyndai coupe. Need time to get used to it, does make the current IS look a bit angular and dated. Like the interier, similar to the RX, though I quite liked the "pop up" sat nav.

a solid 'meh' from me so far - need to see it in the metal.
nice ride height though - is that the "official" ride height, or has it got its party frock on?

will have to see it in the flesh i think, have to say im not overly impressed with what i've seen. inside looks very 3 series to me and those wing mirrors look like theyve come straight off a hyundai coupe!

Mar 1 2005, 12:26 PM
so,
does anyone like it then?
maybe we should do a poll!

Mar 1 2005, 12:26 PM
personally, i like it
looks like it has evolved from the original IS.
even though i like the new design, i ain't buying one, going to keep it old school..........but when the rest of you upgrade, remember me when you wan't to sell off your goodies
Steve
Mar 1 2005, 12:27 PM

one lush interior!!!

Mar 1 2005, 12:33 PM
i like it...in the metal it's gonna look very sharp... the rear is definite improvement on the current car imho

i like the nod to the current car's speedo with the numbers 'round the outside

edit.. and the front bumper looks much better in '3d' on the video than it does in the photos
Steve
Mar 1 2005, 12:33 PM
the brushed alloy door interior handles... very nice
Matthew_McNally
Mar 1 2005, 12:34 PM
the interior is an improvement.
especially as it no longer seems to be a swathe of black plastic.
I think the dash is nicer too. I liked the tacho type dials of the old IS, but the orange back light was seriously garish.

Mar 1 2005, 12:36 PM
Err......not sure
Just feels like its missing something exterior wise.
Needs "Lexus Lights"
Interor is quite nice - but get rid of the wood - its an IS not an LS!
Looks abit too BMW for my liking.
I'm sure with a few little tweaks it will be quite nice.

Mar 1 2005, 12:37 PM
what is it with designers these days? Do they just assume that no one opens car doors into other cars now? One week in a car park and the side of this car is going to seriously suffer. I'm not all negative - it looks very grown up but I don't want to yet - shame
Wosket
Mar 1 2005, 12:38 PM
so what model are the pics of then? will there still be the equivalent of an s, se and sport? the wing mirrors look even bigger each time i look at the car, theyre huge! or is that just me?
Steve
Mar 1 2005, 12:39 PM
ears mate

Mar 1 2005, 12:39 PM
They got rid of the classic look speedo! nooooooooo! that was so unique to the IS and now its been replaced by a bog standard instrument layout.
Also, the centre console looks just like the one for the new honda accords that are around.
The front looks nice and mean though, I like that bit, but the rest of it is pretty unremarkable, just like every other car out there.
A few words to add, 6 Spd Manual yes on IS250, MP3 and WMA support, AUX plug for your Ipod

and lots of LED's inside.

Mar 1 2005, 12:42 PM
As I stated earlier, Im not overly impressed. Its grown on me but there is just something that looks missing, the grill just looks to small and the front bumper looks to bubbly. Side looks nice and the rear has also grown on me but I still prefer the mark I IS.
All in all, mixed opinion but think my next purchase will be in a year or two will the the next GS.
Not won over by the interior either, a little bland. Well thats my first "official opinion" hope others will not feel the same. Would be awful if it flopped!!
Although the diesal will prevent that.
