Hi,

I bought a new battery and the leads from the car wont reach, I seem to remember someone saying you can get some kind of battery extension kit? is this true? I have searched but can't find any information.

I'm off to Halfords to have a look tomorrow.

Lexus dont exactly give you a lot of cable!

Thanks in advance..... back to the rugby

I bought some battery cables from halfords but don't have a clue how to join them together? I tried soldering them and the solder just kept dropping off! Now I think the iron needs a new tip.

someone help please! I'm pretty ****** off!
Rob
if the leads dont reach then the new battery is the wrong size, as for the solder unless u have a huge iron u wont get the cables hot enough for a proper join.

your option is to :

get a different proper size battery
find a cable joiner that uses bolts to clamp the cables together.

If it is a new battery. Then change it for the correct one( with fittings in the same position) that came off the car?

its a deep cysle battery for car audio stuff so there isn't really another battery I can use. I thought it would be a case of adding some more copper wire to the original ones and that would be it but I have no idea what thickness the standard cable is or how to join the new and old cable together. Now I can't even drive the car!

I know other members have these batteries and I thought it would be a straight fit but the two positive wire wont reach.

it's the exide 900 dc by the way

however I have the one labelled as a deta

Colin , the Bosch battery i fitted the other month was the same , connections at the front ,not the back, the black lead had enough slack ,and the red lead i unclipped the cable on the bulkhead, and it then fitted.
Once fitted and checked for bonnet clearance , i cable tied the cable into its new position......job done :)

yea cheers, I had unclipped it from teh back alread but it still just a bit too short. I have the wire so i'm just going to get a screw in connector and see how that goes. I temporarily connected the battery and for some reason the car started locking/unlocking itself when i opened and shut the door. Dunno what that's about?

Hi Colin

i have the same battery and my mine fitted with no problems at all.

maybe you might have it the wrong way round?

Thanks

haha no, it was the right way around. Just extended the leads now and it's all working perfectly. I wish it would stop raining so I can put the amps in though!
