Hi there,
As you's can probably tell, i'm new here, and i haven't got a windom, yet.
I'm basically looking for any info on them and common problems with them, why? - Because i can get one for Free (well, almost)
My father works in Belgium and his friend has a Windom over there that he no longer wants, it has a few faults but he said i can have it for the shipping cost of getting it back over here.
I'm awaiting more details about it from my father, but he thinks it's J reg (1991? - was originally from the UK) and he knows it dark metallic green and it's got Windom 3.0G on the boot badges.
The faults are: The battery goes flat after 3 days if not uesd and it needs a new part in the alternator according to a Toyota garage in france (wether the 2 faults are associated i don't know)
I was wondering if anybody here knew what the fault may be, and anythig else for me to look out for, really i'm not too worried if it has had a hard life, beggars can't be choosers.
Also what toys do they have in? Leather etc...? I'm used to my 2.9 Ford Scorpio - more buttons than bhp.:sniff:
Thanks for any info, at least iknow what it looks like now after looking in the gallery on this site.
Wez.

Hi
Well you will have more fun in the windom than in your scorpio... The drive will be more luxurious.
There are not many common faults and the few are not very costly.
Some come with leather and you will find it fully loaded... elec seats, mirrors, windows, air con, heated mirrors, air purifier, cruise control and loads more... nothing is manual on the car.
The drive is very quiet and luxurious for its age and drives almost like a new car.
Plenty of oomph! when you need it
If you need to ask any questions please email me at steve@teamlexus.co.uk and I wll go through any thing you need to know

Does this club have a stand at any car shows?
I'm in the ford XR owners club (never leave my boyracer roots!) and i show my MK1 XR2 from time to time, but i've never seen any lexus's at any shows!
----------
As i said previously, when my father asked what was wrong with it the toyota mechanic said it needed a new part in the alternator and it had a drain on the battery, BUT when my father asked his friend (the owner) what was wrong with it, he said he was told by the toyota garage that the engine management/ECU had a 'un-cureable' fault on it?
:sniff:

The club is just under 1 year old.. we already made a huge impact at the JAE show. You wont really see Lexus at shows becasue we are the only official club in the UK and Europe.
Were getting there.. but we would only attend Japs and JAE and our own organised meets.
our next meet is at the end of this month.. contact me if you need any info.
As for the windom... Best ship it over and try changing the alternator and see if that fixes the problem... nothing is un-curable.. just needs replacing

Thanks for the info pepole, just waiting to see if it's the alternator or the ECU, if it is the ECU i don't think i'll bother with it as i doubt i'll find one in a scrapyard over here!
