can any one whi has a 1996 ish gs300 tell me if this looks like or is the remote for the alarm
got it today from lexus at sheffield, he wasnt 100% sure

allright ive read the post regarding the setting up of the fobs, but im falling at the first hurdle, any one know where the alarm ecu is?. i seem to be drawing a blank?

Which method are you using?
As far as I know, the alarm ecu is in the centre arm rest area...

yeah thats the bit im failing on tony, ive removed the center arm rest and it aint there, unless im not removing it fr enough

sod it ive tried to get the centre console off and managed to loose a screw and break a clip off, so im going to let lexus do em both , got quoted 50 odd quid for both doing , at least if they break owt they pay

Do you need to access the ecu???
I thought holding the two buttons on the fob with the battery removed NEAR to the console cycled the fob through all the codes until it matched up with the ecu... have you tried this Steve?

no not tried that , was going to do the , resetting the ecu first, but if that works aswell ill give that a go, right back in 5 minutes

Remove the small screw at the back of the fob, and seperate both parts. The back part will contain the battery - it's the front part that you need (minus the battery).
Sit in the car and with the ignition OFF hold the fob near to the centre console and press both buttons at the same time for 20 - 30 seconds.
Replace the back containing the battery and press lock, then unlock.

Went to lexus sheffield to have the 2 alarm fobs programmed to car, service bod says ,hmmm not sure these are right, drove it to service bays (my car looks and sounds as nice from the outside) 2 techies there, remove glovebox and say................ " u got wrong remotes R kid!!!!!!"

apparantly the ecu for the alarm on these series of cars lives behind the glove box and my car is a 1995 car NOT a 1996 and has a button on the key type (on a 1995)? sensor for this is on parcel shelf, u buy keys and a chip for about £200.00
plus this is what gets me
all earlier models had none deep disk rear alloys , they wernt a optional extra on earlier models (not according to lex web site)
my spoiler is differnt to normal gs's as its got a brake light init gs's had parcel shelf lights but with spoiler covering it up had to stick outer one on
things he was saing didnt sound right, but i bowed down to the machanics knowledge on other stuff
