Does anybody use this for your email?
are you having any problems with logging on to it at the moment?
Cheers

It's more likely to be your ISP, have you looked at their website / phoned them to see if there area ny problems in your area?
Outlook Express is just a program to receive your email from you ISP's server, so If you hevn't changed anything it could well be a problem at their end.

PlusNET and BT are currently in the process of upgrading the DSLAM networks... which in effect means all PlusNET subscribers (including me) will be receiving a 2mb upgrade for free.
This DSLAM upgrade could be interfering with Routing at a DNS level, causin authentication issues. However, on a more detailed note, it is likely that your password/username have been changed by the isp (or inadvertantly by yourself, easily done by mistake.)
ensure your username and passwords are current and correct, else try using your email address as the username.

Much nicer than OE IMO - some nice anti spam controls built in too

Tried all the above.
I open outlook express and it asks for username and password (which it never used to). My password and username have already been typed in as its already been saved (for the past 2 years when i was originally with freeserve). I press enter and it then comes back after a few seconds with the same thing.
I'd like to change to something better anyway but that means changing all things like amazon, ebay etc. I also need to get some emails i should have recieved this morning

no it doesnt mate.
Thunderbird, like Outlook Express and Outlook is an email client.
That is - it is a piece of software that lets you send and receive emails from your computer.
They are NOT connected to your email address, and you can swap clients without changing your email address (although you need to import your old email into your new client if you wish to have it all in one place)

Thats a prob with your ISP
just leave it for a while and it'll be all back to normal when they fix it, more than likley they are just doing some work on the Email server, you wont loose any emails just wont be able to download your new ones for a while.
usually there is a webpage on your ISP's site that will tell you of any ongoing work or planned maintainence.

you download the client from the link below and install it.
Thunderbird
You then set it up with the server settings, and passwords etc like Outlook Express

Thanks Matt.
I've done that but it still wont give me new mail. Saying username and password incorrect.
I spoke to plus net and he said it might be a fire wall?? I've never installed a fire wall.
He also said goto there web site and access from there, which i did but its a different email address - different username and password.
The one i want is from when i was with freeserve. Which is server pop freeserve.com

has your email account with freeserve been closed?
some isp's keep them open for a while when you leave, but others close and delete your account as soon as you stop paying them

I cancelled my account with them about 4 / 5 months ago.
At first i had to change my server for the outgoing mail (with the help of Mark D) as it didnt work. But now its not accepting my username or password to access new or send mail

Try here:
http://www.wanadoo.co.uk/
freeserve = wanadoo
If this doesn't work you will have to talk to them & see if they will switch it back on for say 24 hours to give you time to sort things out.

Thanks i've just tried it and it says my account has been locked for either maintenance or its expired.
I'll have to change my email addy on all things like ebay / amazon etc

Sorted
I've spoken to Wannado and it seems that if you're no longer using them as your ISP, your email account will automatically suspend itself after 90 days. You then have to phone them up to get it switched back on again.
I've now changed my addy and everything and using that Thunderbird thingy that Matt mentioned. Much better anyway
Thanks again for the help and advice guys
