Should people who take say 5+ times to pass just not be allowed to drive as passing was obviously a fluke and they have no aptitude for driving?

Passed first time but with 9 minors
Makes you a better driver I say, you gotta pass with the highest number of minors!

First time here too, thought I'd failed as I saw him marking the sheet as I was driving out the car park but he was just writing my name

100% on that theory test too, only took a few minutes, bet it was harder than a A Level though

Failed twice when 18, too many bad habits picked up driving around on L Plates in my old 1200 Beetle. Couldn't afford to take test or have lessons again until I graduated from Uni. Got it second time around then, got in trouble though 'cos I got a job saying I had a licence, but I failed the week before I started
So had to go cap in hand on the first day and come clean, and passed it a week after

2nd. time. First fail was because I was at the wrong test centre! It was 3 miles away. So I was late and it was classed as a fail !
That was back in the 70s. In a Cortina 1600E

Passed first time and it was only 10 days after my 17th birthday!!
I only had three lessons too!!!
The only contreversial thing about this topic is this:
When learning for your driving test, the instructors teach you how to pass the test and not actually how to be a good driver so this is not always an indication of a good driver!
Somebody told me that one time and I thought it was fairly correct!!

Passed 'bike' test first time 1965 on a Lambretta !!!!
Passed car test first time 1966 in a Hillman Minx!!!
My dad was manager at Putney BSM so I got free lessons - only drawback was I always had three other instructors in the car with me, two training, one teaching, it made for a few laffs I can tell you. Putney was where instructors were trained then.

It took me 3 attempts to pass my test
Passed after chatting to the instructor saying it was my 3rd go and it was needed for my job..........
So he passed me with 13 points (15 max) and said and I quote:
"Ok this time you have passed but I advise you to take some extra lessons and would advise doing a Pass Plus course"
Of Course I took his advice

"Yeah sure bye!"

Dec 8 2005, 05:51 PM
I passed 1st time 2 days after my 17th birthday, the examiner asked me how i learned to drive like that so quick, what i didnt tel him was that i'd been driving my mums Vauxhall Viva (no jokes!) since i was 15 but i did tel him i was practicing on private roads, like he believed me! Lol! 4 minor faults and 10 years ago, only ever had 3 points in 1995 for doin 60 in a 30 in my Escort RST, stupid and senseless at 17 a, clean since then tho.
I was caught once in my mums car driving it on my own 2 weeks before my 17th and wen i could take my test, i was in a bus lane! I was more scared of my mum than what the police were gonna say! Lol!
Also passed my PCV first time 5 years ago.
Goin for my ADI now. Anyone else doin ADI course on here?
Sorry for rambling on folks...Thats all!
