does anyone know if the oil filter for a mark 1 GS is the same as that for the Mark 2 - had a look in the Halfords books today and there's only one listed - checked and it was the same as the Supra TT which uses the same engine (I think?)

So I'm sure you're trying to be my dad mate, but I didn't ask whether you think it's a good idea or not, I just asked about engine differences between Mk1 and Mk2

well sorry i dont know the answer to your question, dont seem anyone else does.Just seemed because you have the power to remove my post you did it because you didnt like my answer!
Good job all of us members cant pick what posts we want to keep displayed or bin, there wouldnt be alot left on here
It just dont make sense keeping cars all up together then sticking a cheap oil filter from halfords on to save a quid or so.
Enough on the subject now Post closed

I deleted your post because you took my thread off topic - tough
It's a simply enough question, if you don't know the answer then please STFU - I don't need or want your opinion

Would not have thought they'd be the same as the layout's differ but thats only going by the manuals I have here and the layout's I've seen between the two.
Ref to your last post to Chips229, think that below the belt mate, He's only trying to offer help.

oh stop being so fliipin sensitive - it just makes me mad when I ask a simply question and I get advice about something that I didn't want - what's wrong with the principle of if you don't know the answer then don't say anything at all.
In what way do you think you wree being helpful by recommending where I buy stuff from - are you implying that I'm some sort of moron and you're some sort of oracle
grow up
Paul - thanks for your answer

Sorry to butt in - I don't normally comment in threads like this but come on guys this is bull****- have you had a bad day or what Rod?!
I thought the terms of LOC say be polite to each other but imho "shut the **** up" is not exactly being polite!
I mean it was you yourself Rod that said everyone is entitled to their own opinion in this thread - old but I came across it earlier by accident when looking for brake stuff - http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...?showtopic=5444
At the end of the day most threads on here are pulled off topic in one way or another at some point - even with Ahmet's OT thread!
We don't have too many GS members on here so be nice to each other- I'll be coming your way soon and I'll need all the help I can get from you guys!!
So be nice, too many members have disappeared and I don't personally want this to continue!
Flame away!

OK OK - I'm truly sorry if I have offended anyone.
All I wanted though was a simply answer to a simple question - is a MK 1 oil filter the same as a MK 2 oil filter?
All I got was someone telling me that I shouldn't be buying oil filters from Halfords (and I never said I was going to anyway). Then when I deleted that post in order to try to keep my thread on-topic, he re-posted the comment along with a flame.
It just seems like you can't get a straight answer to a straight question
