Have the committee ever considered a reptation rating - i.e. when a member makes a useful/informative post that could be of help to other members and gets an approval from other members? Something along the lines of the IS300.net system.

I think this has been suggested a few times, originally from Paul (I think), but it never happened

been considered mate, but never been done (and in my opinion - never will be).

- we already have a problem with post whoring. karma whoring we can live without.

- we try to keep the forum hacks to a minumum. they seem like a good idea - until you have to upgrade. then they become a MASSIVE ball ache.

I'm on another forum that uses rep - basically you only get it when people post pics of porn or funny jokes - when it's really deserved it never gets dished out laugh.gif
Mr Morse
Point taken.....

But the idea of the system is surely to cut out the endless stream of ecomotions and promote good, sensible tips and ideas.

How about -ve Reps for Bull$***** posts?

Mike, they also have that on the other forum mate but then it's like on here, when you put something useful the guys that know each other and take the ***** give out massive negative points for good tips for a laugh!

You know what we're like mate, yes a lot of the posts from guys like yourself do deserve good feedback, but the problem is in practice it just doesn't work tongue.gif

It then ended up with loads of post for people just asking for karma so they got more dots - and you know what - they get it!

So you end up with some crappy posts saying "me too, me too" and they get karma for it laugh.gif

Great idea mate, just very difficult in practice sad.gif

I mean, at the end of the day, I'd have my karma points maxed out, and look at the crap I post ohmy.gif
