Well i realy realy need to get myself an A3 Scanner within the next day or two for some work i am doing.
I have done the usual and looked on the net but can only find ones that are from obscure companies that want 5+ days for delivery.
Quality is not of the upermost importance as its not for photographic work, more for AutoCAD based purposes.
idealy i want somewhere that i can walk in and purchace the item rather than order it, and my budget is about £90-100.
have seen many availiable on net but cant find many shops selling them.
i am based in sittingbourne at moment but can travel within 60 miles.
any help apreciated.
(tried pc world, staples and all the local pc shops

Chris, sure we bought one from PC World years ago (you're talking five years here) - it was a cheap one, think it was £100 then but it worked alright, just wasn't the quickest thing!
Did they not have any now then?

aido - looked at pc world and they only have 1 a3 scanner, it was over £800 so had to discount it.
Scarface - would be too much work, plus i need it to scan a lot of things and reducing them would add too much time

great minds strike again, me and Bazza posted the same thing at the same time from the same place!
I used to work for an imaging company years ago mate and cheap A3 scanners aren't really a popular product which is why you don't tend to find them in the stores, we were amazed when I found the Mustek one as we were looking at probably a Fujitsu one which was over a grand - best scanners I ever worked with were the Kodak 9500's - as big as a fridge and the same cost as a new Porsche - the selling line was that it could scan everything except for a piece of toast (and they even tried that!!!). Think it might just be overkill for you thought pal

That's tomorrow mate?
One thing I find with Amazon is that they always overestimate delivery times - I've had loads of things which should have been despatched within five days sent within 24 hours?!
Weird!

Can you not use a copy shop ?
Generally I use our print room though we also have an A3 scanner and downstairs we have a full colour drawing copier (upto A0!)
Copy shop may be best esp if it is for work and on a deadline, just drop the stuff off, tell them what format you want it in and when you want it by then go and get a coffee.....

well, lets just say the path has not flown smoothly with this scanner......
I got the first sign things were going wrong when on wednesday last week i got a card saying that they couldnt deliver (parcelfarce uk) when i know full well i was in the house and the bell was working.
phoned up to complain and was told will deliver tomorrow, well they never came.....
phoned again and told them to take it to post office, they said it will be there by 2pm next day....
on sat i went to post office and guess what, it wasnt there...
phoned up the people again and manager pisses me off by saying that he wont deliver it now till monday, a few choice words and mentioning head office had it delivered to me by 3pm sat.
get it out of box and check ok, seems fine so leave it be for a few days.
go to set it all up today to get some work i need done asap - and guess what the scanner is bust!!!! the lamp on the scanning side doesnt come on so wont scan bugger all!!
aaggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
and now coz i ordered through amazon i have to send it back to them! so so so not fair so i gotta go through the crap again with the delivery!

Chris, if you need the scans urgently how about popping to a local scanning bureau? They shouldn't charge too much and will give you a CD with your scans on for now?
You'll usually find them in the Yellow Pages under document imaging or scanning bureau?

Yeah it's a lot better being able to do it yourself mate, I used to work for an imaging company years ago but they've shut now otherwise I could have got them to sort you out, I found one on Google called FM Image Management which said they were near you but looking at their website they're in Andover now

Jesus they've put their prices up
What about trying a local print company to see if they can just do it for you quick mate as another option?
