I'm planning to purchase a second hand Lexus IS200 very shortly and am thinking of going to a Lexus dealer.

Can anyone offer me any tips and advice on haggling?

I'd be interested to know your experiences with Lexus sales staff, what kind of discounts you've managed to get and how hard you've had to push to get it.

My budget is 14K and I'm looking at IS200 SEs on a 2003/03 or 2002/52 plates.

Thanks!

WHAT CAR GUIDE TO HAGGLING

Oh yes, almost forgot.....

Most dealers will close their financial books by the last Thursday of each month. If they are a bit lean on sales they may drop their pants for you if you hit them at the right time msn-wink.gif

Best advice is look at the car, road test, if you are interested decide the max. you will pay. If the dealer won't take then be prepared to walk. If you have a p/es then it complicates it a bit.

Of course for a little more money you could get a better spec. car privately and still have the manufacture's warranty wink.gif

How much can I haggle off the price of their cheaper cars, like the 9k ones?

If I turned up on the last wednesday or weekend just before then, with 7.5k in cash, do i stand *any* chance of getting one of their £9.2k cars?

To be honest I guess a lot of it depends on the dealer and the salesperson.

If they have not matched their sales target for that month then it makes it easier to work out a deal, I timed mine to perfection and they did everything they possibly could when I got the car!

I guess the biggest problem you are facing is that the new models are out so they will be possibly selling a lot of those - this may sound silly to you but give Lexus Edinburgh a call, they are the first people I will be approaching when the time comes for me to get rid of my car!

Oh, and good luck - would make a good birthday present for you if you get one sorted soon smile.gif
