I am new to Lexus and have been looking for an early LS 400. I found a 94 with 84k that has always been serviced at a lexus dealer. The owner can verify this with the original documents from the service dept and i had a local dealer pull up the car by vin and it all checks out. New timing belt, ball joints, v ribbed belt and all major services including the 90k done. I can buy the car for $5000 is this a good deal? what else should I look for as far as things that possibly might need to be replaced. Any comments would be appreciated.
I have owned several older LS400's some of which had 100k + miles on them . I will tell you without hesitation that you won't find a better built car for the money than the 400. If everything checks out and it drives out and shifts smooth then i would say jumpon it before someone else does...theres a good reason why you never see them for sale a dime a dozen! It's because once you own one you'll never want to part with it and most of the time when they do they either buy another one or regret buying anything else! I'm on my 4th LS400 and wouldn't own anything else. Trust me once you go Lexus you'll NEVER go back!!!!! The only thing i would check is the power steering pump as i've noticed they have a tendency to leak a little with the older ones, but that is a minor issue being that the car is generally rock solid. I hope this helps with your buying decision;)
