Hi all,
Just a general question, to ensure that there are no real problems as regards my engine etc, but can't seem to get my GS430 to scrape more than 20mpg,anyone find they do a lot better than this, 03 plate, 35000 miles, so run in, and nothing unusual, and no mods.
All ideas/ suggestions/observations appreciated.
Cheers

not me
average is 19.1 at the moment - mostly urban.
Record is 27.6 on a run - nice and easy on the motorway.
not being funny Nick - what did you expect mate? You can't have thought it would be cheap to run

Thanks for the quick feedback, gents.
Matthew, I know what you mean, I just wondered, as I did think that the GS430 would be more frugal than the LS400 (that was the previous motor) as it is more advanced an engine and carrying less weight. Not the case though. But I am no professor of energy and fuel.
That said, as long as its normal am more than happy, plus its good fun to hammer it now and then and see it go under 10mpg!
Once again, thanks for the info, and thanks Matthew for the carpet clips, very good of you.
Cheers,
Nick

My LS averages about 18 mpg on short trips but upto about 28-29 on steady mway cruise. I put some REDEX in a while back an it seemed to find a few extra mpg. Worth a try?

The GS isn't as good as the LS due to aero drag.
I average 24mpg on mixed driving. Can get 28-30 on a run and about 18mpg just around town.
Cleaning the MAF sensor gave me 1 or 2 extra mpg shortly after I got my car and that had only done 25k miles then so it's worth cleaning that every 2 years.

My uncle gets 17mpg in his GS430 so it sounds the norm....
