Not sure if this is actually recent but while at Notts today Louise noticed that there was a recall for my car regarding the mats, and there is a replacement available which is free of charge - she has ordered these for me and they'll take a couple of days - from what she said it is the entire mat that is replaced - will see what difference there is when they are swapped!
Not sure if this is a new one but I've been to the dealers many times over the last couple of years, a few times in the past few months actually and it's never been noticed before!
Go to Notts and see Louise - she's a very nice lady

Why a recall on mats Aido, thats weird
Do explain
aido
October 12, 2005, 12:02 am
Only thing I can think of is that it's something to do with the possibilty of the mat slipping out of the hook and sticking under the throttle as has happened to myself and various other members on LOC?

Ah yes it happened to me twice, Redlining at 2AM in Central Cardiff didn't go down too well with the local police
Fun though

Although not at the time

Happened to me too. I dont have the clips on my mats though. Can you buy the clips seperate and does the recall affect all IS200 or just a certain age, Mine is a 1999?

My vehicle is a Sep 2000 and it affected that one, not sure what exactly is replaced, the clip or the mat etc etc, assuming the lot as the part number came up at 43 quid, will let you know more when I have the info

This must be it:
http://www.theaa.com/allaboutcars/recalls/...Lexus&makeId=C4
Not sure if I need it because my car is a December 2000 model. I already have the clips under the drivers seat. Does this mean I get some new mats too?
My existing mats have a hole in them for the clip to go through - is this the same as yours Aido?
aido
October 12, 2005, 9:58 am
I guess so Anees?
Mine is Sep 2000 and only has one hole for the mat (which has two holes) to connect to. Think it connects on the uter side towards the drivers door.
Sounds the same as mine mate
Might be worth speaking to the dealer, Louise said she was going to get back to me in a few days when they turn up

The recall doesn't affect all IS's but youre local dealer can let you know if your car is applicable.
You can get the clips for the mats on there own, part number is: PZ410-C0353-BA and they retail at 78p each inc. Vat. Although, to be honest, most dealers will have some lying around that they will give away (and as you all know you don't often get freebies from us dealers

).

I got a letter about this recall from Lexus Birmingham during April this year (when I still had my IS). They changed the whole set of mats, which were identical to the old ones, but the only thing that was different was the retaining clip.

I have a feeling my clip will suspiciously go missing on the way to the dealers for the fitting

think the recall is to fit 2 clips to the mats instead of just the one

Oh right, the carpet lining on the floor only has space for one clip, unless they just cut a new hole?

Aido,
I reported a recall on June 27th this year, quote:
When I picked up my Lex from its last service at Lexus Bristol I found a very nice full set of luxury carpet mats, complete with gold 'Lexus' emblem on the front mats. Lexus Bristol told me they were fitted as they had a 'recall' on the originals??!! Must say the new ones are a lot better quality....

The recall was in 2000. All cars 1999 and early 2000 are covered I think.
I have just looked at my mats and I have only 1 hole in the carpet but 2 in the mats. I am still waiting for my clips but will let you know whap happens.

I have one hole for the hook in my carpet and yet there are two holes in my mat. Does this mean that my car is due a recall? Car is registered in Oct 2000

Well it's done
they've changed the clip I had to the exact same one, and replaced the mats with new ones, the new one's don't have Lexus embroidered into the mats now though?
Apart from that they're identical
Can't fault the service at Notts, Louise is doing a great job there

I had a 1999 Is200 which was recalled in 2000 because of the mats. I didn't have Lexus mats at the time but they fitted two new ones anyway - because I didn't have the originals, can't be sure what the difference is but was very grateful for the freebie!

So on the subject of recalls, where do you find info that a recall is issued? Just done a search of Lexus site for "recall" and found nothing?
...and does anyone know prices on new IS as I can't find that either!

I had a shifting mat when I first bought my 2002(02) 300SC 15 months ago. I discovered that although it had 2 clips, there was only one mat eyelet, and the mat had slipped out of it.
I knew nothing about a recall, so I just made another hole in the mat with a screwdriver to sort it. It's been no problem since.
Come to think of it, the mats did look new at the time, which implies they still supply them with just one hole. They are plain black mats with no logos on.
