problem is when scrolling though a web page or indeed for example the admin services page, the screen 'jerks' its way down.

this is the same if i use the mouse wheel, the keybaord arrow ket or the windows side bar etc.

the problem seems to be a global setting as ive tried he usual smooth scolling options dotted around the OS and the setting that sets XP for best perfomance (ie no flashy bits) but to no avail

any idea....

Sounds like the GDI accelleration driver isn't working right pal, have you tried reinstalling the graphics card driver? Some of the inbuilt windows drivers don't do hardware accelleration properly and you get this jerky scrolling as a result and it's possible that hardware overlays etc won't be working either.

There also used to be a setting in Windows regarding how much optimisation of the graphics card driver it would use - it used to be in Display settings but it's been a very long time since I've used a PC and can't really remember if any of that is in XP?

Sounds like you need to reinstall your graphics driver.. ;)

This happens on my laptop too. but it only happens while parts of the page are still loading in the background and only while using firefox, when all the images etc have loaded the page scrolls smooth again
