Hi all,

Has anyone used Sol-Ace of Berkshire?

I am thinking of getting my IS200 tinted but im not sure what the difference is between the various products they offer. Any advise anyone?

Also how much is reasonable to be quoted for the whole car to be done, except windscreen ofcourse.

Thanks, blush.gif

I got my previous IS200 tinted for £275 all round.

That was in Chadwell Heath though .........

How long does it take and what effect looks best? Any ideas where i can get to see some pictures of different darkness levels on actual cars. Chadwel Heath is cool by me as my parents live in Essex.

I almost used those guys cause I live in Reading and work in Slough but it was easier for me to use a place nearer work, in Maidenhead and get the train from there to work. I left it with them first thing and collected it at lunchtime. Not sure how long it actually took them tho suspect a while.

I used http://www.autoasylum.co.uk. They did a very good job and it was about £280 I think for the rear and rear side windows. Not that cheap but well worth it.

I think they said they wouldn't do the front ones as they'd then be illegal but I didn't want them done anyway. The owner had two of his own cars there so I got to see what the tints looked like plus he had samples he could hold over your window. Knew his stuff. I was going to get either medium or dark and he suggested dark on rear and medium on sides as the rear would look thru to the clear windscreen so by using that combination the rear and side ones would actually end up looking more similar.

My only mistake was to get in the back of my car after it was done to see what they looked like from inside, except had child locks on the doors. Doh blush.gif

Thanks for that mate. It was very useful. I may go with them then. Just a quick question. IS it illigal to have the front side windows done? I thought as long as they were not too dark (50%?) then it was A OK by law.

Please clarify anyone.

I want it all done except windscreen ofcourse.

There's a thread somewhere with the precise legal details. I think that auto asylum's (plus others companies?) lightest tint film (+ the cars own slight standard tint?) is darker than the new legal limit. I guess if you could get a film that took it to the limit then that would be ideal although I don't know if that would make enough difference for it to be worth doing. Best ask them.

Ah sounds like all tints to the front side windows are illegal...
