I picked some parts up from Ipswich Lexus today for my Mk 1 LS400.

Having ordered them over the phone I negotiated a 5% discount for being a Gold Club Member (wanted more, but better than nothing I suppose).

Went to pay and asked the guy whether he included my discount. He didn't know anything about it, but did reluctantly give me the money off.

He then told me that they had had such bad press from the owners club that they weren't going to offer any discounts to club members any more. ohmy.gif

Seems interesting that feedback from a group of owners and enthusiasts should produce such a reaction? Customers unhappy? - just charge them more, that should sort it!

My response was that if the customer service improved then the reviews would be better, but it fell on deaf ears. All he was interested in was the name of the person I spoke to on the phone.

I have read the previous threads on the Ipswich dealership and can only agree with them. I was quite prepared to shell out a lot of money for the major timing belt service earlier this year but ended up taking it to Roys of Norwich as I could never get hold of anyone at Ipswich Lexus. Roys did an excellent job. biggrin.gif

Had the same reaction last year.
Front of House are are very snooty.
Dismissed me as a low life when I enquired about a Gold Club Discount.
Said, and I quote, 'We don't give it anymore as we found it didn't generate any more business'.

I actually sent them an e-mail asking for the costs of a 60,000 mile service, with or without spares provided by them ,and never even got a reply, hence the visit.

Back of Shop are spitting blood because they read these comments on LOC and just want the same sort of good feedback that other dealers get.

It's a management thing.

I called in on spec, once, just to look at a new IS. I wasn't dressed up so nobody took any notice for five minutes and then treated to a lecture on finance that insulted my intelligence. I wanted to pay cash, but that wasn't going to earn the guy any finance commission. He just wouldn't take no for an answer.
I gave 'em a black on the dealer table for that but it's gone now.

I'm now off to Norwich.
Trouble is the wife wants to go shopping.

That's strange, I had my first service (IS200 SE) done at Ipswich a month ago. Rang up and booked and was asked if I required a loan car, I mentioned my gold club membership and was told no problem. On arrival I was offered coffee. had a small wait while they sorted me out with a replacement loan car as the one I was due to have (IS250) had just turned up smashed on the back of a car transporter, was given the sales IS250 to use. Salesman who sold me my car came over to see how I was getting on with it and if I had any problems. Was phoned about 1.30pm and told my car was ready said I would be about 2 hours to which I was told no problem. was taken though the safety report, on paying I asked if they needed to see my membership card to which I was told no the discount had already been deducted, which it had. car was clean and I am very happy with the service provided

Confused? I am now.

Is there a definitive list somewhere that will indicate whether a dealer gives a discount or not?
Lexus UK should have a policy on this issue. Leaving it to their customers to telephone round until they strike it lucky is lowering the standard. It just gets tacky. I go back to Ipswich which turned me down last year and say, ' but you have given it to so and so, what's wrong with me'. Sure way to get an even worse review if you ask me. And complaints to HQ.

Sorry folks; might have known you had it covered in Gold Lounge.
Thanks.
