Hello

I've had my Lexus IS200 SE Auto for about 18 months now. Is a company car, but I'm seriously considering buying it at the end of the lease, and running it privately (Gordon Brown has made it impossible to support an IS under the new tax schemes!).

One thing that has concerned me though is the rate I go through tyres. They were replaced at 20,000 mile service and described as "very worn". I've since done 13,000 miles and looking at them they are near the warning mark again. They are the Goodyear Eagle type.

I'm not a boy racer, most of the journeys are motorway, at averagely high speeds (but not spinning away from lights).

Is 15,000 mile replacement to be expected or is there something wrong here?

On another topic, I'm considering SAT NAV. Can this be retro fitted by Lexus and has anyone had any experience?
Many thanks

Around 15K, 20K tops is the same as I'm getting out of tyres, I've done 65K miles now and it seems like I'm forever getting new tyres. Fortunately I don't pay... I do drive it quite hard though.

Fitting the Original Sat Nav is near impossible (it would be very expensive) your best bet is either an after market unit to replace the existing head unit or a stand alone portable unit such as garmin.

My car is 2yrs old now with 13,000 miles on,it still has at least 4-5mm left on the tread all round

I got roughly 12k/13k out of my forst set, it dependes heavily on what tyres you have on and your driving style - to be honest i'm happy as long as I get over 10k out of them

Cheers

I've just replaced all four on my IS200, they were Uniroyal Rain sport, 225 40 ZR 18. The tyres came standard on my alloys and I got about 12,000 out of them.

I was pretty happy with that really.

I've had two sets of tyres at 50K miles. The Potenza RE040 and Toyo Proxes T1S both lasted 25K each, but my driving is nearly all motorway! Guess that's why I havent replaced my brake pads yet either..! rolleyes.gif

I've just done 25,000 miles in mine and am still on the first set of tyres. They'll need replacing in another 1000 miles looking at them... wink.gif

I've had my car for almost 3yrs and its done almost 13,000 and the tyres still have some tread left on them. They are bridgestones.
