I'm just about ready to put a personal plate on the Tubby....what do I need to do in respect of changing the MOT cert to reflect the new reg? Cos I'll need an MOT cert with the correct reg in order to change the tax disc.

I'm not 100% sure but I think you can take all the relevant paper work to your closest dvla centre, and I think they can do it over the counter for you, as they will need to stamp the old mot with new reg and issue you with a replacement tax disc

Thats exactly what I did when I put a personal plate on my car. All done over the counter.

Thanks fellas.....there's a DVLA centre just up the road from, so nice and easy then.

yep, thats right. they sort it all out at the dvla centre. 2 minute job ..... half hour wait in the waiting room

do not take the tax disc with you,
they will issue you a new one and give you an envelope to send the old one back

If you park in their car park you CAN take the tax disc in with you and they will issue a new one then & there and take the old one from you.

Just one less thing to bother with if you park on their premises !!

When you take in your original MOT they will just write in your new registration mark and stamp it.
When you go for your next MOT they just fill registration mark with your new reg.
