Me thinks it's the dvd player and screens for rear passengers ??
Curtisp
Do you mean the ACC/PCS (Adaptive Cruise Control/Pre Crash System)?

Usually ICE stands for 'In Car Entertainment'.
Ivan Golac
You are right Scott it is the DvD screens in tha back. Not sure if there is other gagets that come with it but the main this is the DvD screens in back.

Ivan, I'm assuming you get the player, screens and headphones ?

I'd love to hear what you think once you get it.
hector-uk
thats good news Ivan.
I'm still waiting for a phone call from Lexus too. It has been over a month since i last spoke to my dealer and i dont think i could have stressed enough that i wanted to be called a.s.a.p they found out when i could test drive and order the Sport.

I'm starting to grow a little impatient !!!!
Ivan Golac
Thanks ha55anx

I suggest you give them a call as the Edinburgh branch is always happy to help me when I speak to them. Never been to the glasgow branch (assume thats where you go). But service in Edinburgh is excellent.

Roll on March!

Apologies Ivan for such a poor assumption, should of known better, Scott was on the ball.

Bet you can't wait for the car to arrive. It is truely superb. You're really going to enjoy it.

BTW is the ICE optional equipment or dealer fit? The brochure suggests it's the latter.
Ivan Golac
Its an option. The dealer at the Edinburgh garage advise me tha it was a factory fit.

Why is there a difference?

Your damn right as well, I cant wait!! Im like a wee kid. Just wanna go to sleep and wake up and its there!!

I'm getting mine (Silver, 250 SE with MM) tomorrow. I too will be like a kid at Xmas. No sleep tonight for me :D

However, if you dont get ecited about a purchase like this, then what's the point?

£2000 seems a lot of money for 2 screens in the back of the headrests plus headphones :( You already have the DVD player in the MM option so is that all you get extra for your money? If so local ICE specialist would have saved you a packet :(

I think it has to be a separate DVD player so the rear passengers can control it as you drive along. Incidentally, where's the sat nav dvd live ?
hector-uk
yeah, i go to the Glasgow branch, who have been very good so far, but i haven't heard anything from them for so long, kinda got the feeling they have forgotten about me !! Anyway i'll give them a call to see whats goin on, might just give Edinburgh a call too.

Just wanted to ask too, do you know if the Auto option in the sport is available to order too??

thanks

All these new IS250 owners! Coming in like a tidal wave!

31k is a massive amount of money, how much you reckon it'll be worth in 3 years when I can buy it then!

about 15K i would think :winky:
Ivan Golac
As far as I am aware the sport does not come in an automatic option. But, why would you want a sport in a "auto" version? Gotta be the manual.

As for the worth of the car - who cares!
Scarlet Pimpernell
I did think about the ICE. Then I thought twICE when I saw the prICE! But there is nothing like have an integrated system in the car.

I must admit that I was a little worried about future value...but then that's why I went for the Lexus.

Audi A4 S-Line TDI (was my first choice) - BUT new model arrives in 18-24 months so you can knock £4k off just for that! Artists impressions make for a car from iRobot!!!!!
Merc C Class (last choice!) but new model arrives in 2007 - so it's already £2-4k less
BMW - well soon enough people will realise that there are too many of them...and they are over hyped!
Jag - well it drops like a stone in value - it is a Mondeo at the end of the day!
Honda Accord 2.4 or CDTi - well has any one seen pics of the new new model for 2008....this current one even with it's 2006 face lift will drop like a stone! You can already get 2.4's with Del Mileage for under £20k!
Volvo S60...Come on....! well it is built by intelligent people and driven by Dummies...
Saab - well it's more Vectra then aeroplane!

I could go on (and these are MHO)

Lexus new IS - well other than the Avensis D4D under the bonnet (the only bad point), it is the safest financially me thinks. New Model (so will hold on well), OK the dealers are already Discounting it, but that's because the car sales are low overall. Also, the guys with the Old IS will keep demand on the second hand market for the New IS bouyant for at least 4-5 years...so it hopefully won't get hit too hard!

And it's better and more original than the rest...and fab value!

At the end of the day - you don't normally buy a car to make money...
MCUK23
Since when did the Avensis have a 177 BHP All alloy engine under the bonnet? Its a version of the D4D but Vastly improved, especially the torque.

And yesterday in a well known fleet magazine the IS 220d residuals were published, and it destroys the BMW 3 series with a 3yrs/60k car returning 51% of list, whereas the BMW was at 44%, and the BMW costs you nearly £1500 more to start with, and you have to pay extra for everything, except the service you wont recieve at the dealership.

MCUK23 :D
spwolfx
it is an Toyota engine though, featured in Avensis, Corolla Verso and new Rav4.

However, it is hardly an bad point - it is most powerful and torquest 4cly car engine in the world, and most advanced too.
Scarlet Pimpernell
Sorry mate it was a tongue in cheek comment...it is not a bad engine at all (though maybe not the best either...)

My local Toyota dealership told me that the engine destined for the Avensis later this year and the Corolla Verso (which is already launched) have the same 177BHP engine...which incidentally is the same as the 2.2 148 BHP engine in the Avensis already out there...

So confuse me further...

PS and the New RAV4....and no matter how much cleaner, lighter etc it is claimed to be, or how much torque, the proof in the pudding is in the eating (or driving in this case), and that's where it is good, very good in some ways, but average in others...
