Booked my car in for its first service, 10k miles expecting to be offered a courtesy car, but wasn't offered one.

fair enough, so I asked if I could have one, but was told I would have to pay £15 admin fee to the dealer for insurance details huh.gif

thought that was a bit cack as I've not seen anyone on here mention fees when they've had courtesy cars. Is this the norm? unsure.gif

I paid for a 2 year service plan when I bought the car, but the guy said the service would have cost £195 ohmy.gif
Mr Morse
£195 for an oil & filter change. Yeah, right. ohmy.gif

That means they got over £110/hour... shifty.gif

But in response to charges for courtesy car charges, different dealers opperate different insurance policies for the use of courtesy cars. Some charge you, some require you to cover the car with your own insurance, some have their own insurance policies that cover any driver to use their courtesy cars.

I always ask when phoning around for service costs/charges.

I understand dealers have different courtesy car policies, suppose they can't offer everything to everyone, but when they are charging £195 ohmy.gif then you would expect exceptoinal service, ie courtesy car thrown in

glad I've got the pre paid service plan, otherwise I'd defo be shopping around msn-wink.gif

I reckon that with the number of members here a small lookup or comparison table could be produced with the latest figures by model.

ie:

10K, 20K ,30K, etc - actual service cost as paid by members (highest gets posted)
Courtesy car status as mentioned above
Any other info like wash/valet chucked in

?

Thats why i would never take my car to a main dealer. I got told @ my last independent service(ex lexus/toyota techs) the last service by lexus bristol at 40,000 they didnt even use a toyota oil filter. Some cheap generic instead. This was from the guy who owned it previous. Just shows. The independent service chaps (newport, cardiff OSAKA) said that lexus and toyota were basically thieves that under paid their staff and staff generally didnt do their job because of this so the customer ended losing out.
