i have win 2000 pro on my pc and have tried to upgrade to xp pro because too many programs now will only run under xp.

but after downloading the recent xp installation software i find an upgrade is not possible and the only way to continue is to either partition drive and have another operating system on pc or format drive and start again so i choose to cancel.

i will move all files i want and install at a later date ..

but every time i turn pc on now it goes into xp setup and i have to select to go into win 200 o/s

how can i stop this happening?

Hi mate,

to be honest chooseing to cancel should have removed any of the Xp install......the only thing i can suggest is that once you enter win2000, you need to right click on my computer, select advanced and from that tab you will see the option called "start up and recovery"...its from here you can select what operating system will start at the boot process....

crewe
Start Menu

Run

Type msconfig in the box

click on BOOT.INI Tab

click Check all Boot Paths

Delete XP

Hope this helps
